About
Mimicking a traditional Arabian bazaar, Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a popular marketplace in Dubai. It’s interconnected with waterways, lined with bars and bistros, as well as offers a picture-perfect view of the Burj Al Arab. Here, you can get adrift in a maze of stalls and browse everything from oud perfumes and glimmering jewelry to fragrant spices and Turkish pottery. You can also plan for an alfresco meal and soak in the good vibes outdoors. That’s not all—the best way to admire the bazaar is to hop on a traditional Emirati-style gondola and sail along the tranquil waterways. – Tripadvisor

Seek out local treasures at this traditional Arabian bazaar.

The Souk Madinat Jumeirah is an Arabian bazaar full of fantastic treasures, from spices and slippers to locally created jewelry. Immerse yourself in the shopping culture of this classic Middle Eastern bazaar by wandering through the kiosks and stalls under exquisite lanterns and carved wood.

Shops are open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., while restaurants are open from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. at Souk Madinat Jumeirah. Please see the specifics in the description below for confirmation of the timings. The first two hours of parking are free, after which you will be charged more than 15 dirhams depending on how long you stay. I suggest visiting it both with daylight and at night.

The main entrance lift leads to the Shopping Mall Level, and the Shopping Alleys elevator leads to the Promenade Level, making Souk Madinat Jumeirah wheelchair accessible.

The souk, which is part of the stunning Madinat Jumeirah resort, has infinite passageways to stroll through. This peaceful outdoor mall has a mix of traditional souvenir shops and modern cafés. Take a boat ride to see the magnificent Burj al Arab hotel in the distance.

There are lots of places to stop for a coffee, a light lunch, or a memorable dinner against the picturesque backdrop of Old Dubai, with over 25 restaurants serving drinks and international cuisines.

If you're looking for that postcard-perfect photo of the Burj Al Arab, hop on a boat at the central abra cab station and sit back to enjoy the palm-fringed views. If you're on a tight budget, be aware that this abra ride is quite pricey. There is a similar spot in Dubai where you can fully experience Old Dubai for a much cheaper rate. Well, I'm referring to Al Seef Dubai. Abra rides are also available here. If you haven't been there yet, take a look at our Dubai Playlist.

The Madinat Jumeirah complex is gorgeous. We loved wandering alongside the canals and the beach. The setting for a variety of restaurants is stunning, with great views of the water. The layout is a little confusing, especially where some areas are off limits due to construction or limited to hotel guests only. You can proceed if you are headed for one of the restaurants.
If you are just here for a quick look, walk through the Souk and head for the walkway to the Al Quasr hotel. We found the most picturesque spot and a great view of the Burj al Arab next door in this section, right behind the pink blossoming bushes.
All that said, the souk was my least favorite section of the hotel complex. It has atmosphere and is beautiful and very clean, but was smaller than I expected. I just wasn't that impressed with the selection of the stores. We saw many typical tourist stores with higher prices than in other souks across town. There was a cute antique store that reminded me of Aladdin's cave. Sellers were pretty aggressive in trying to get our attention. I maybe in the minority, but at a 5* hotel I expect my personal space to be respected. If I am paying these type of prices, I would like to browse in peace, without being constantly harassed.

One of the all time favorite places to visit for downtime with friends or when we have friends and family over. The architecture combined with the views makes Souk Madinat one of the best photo opps in the city. Add to that, the fact that they have a ton of restaurants, cafes and bars - something for everyone- whether you want something family friendly (Noodle House) or casual fun with friends (Belgian Beer Cafe is an all time fave). If you’re visiting Dubai with friends this is a great place to pub hop. In December, the souk hosts a fun Christmas market- great for everybody (especially families with young kids).
Note: Best to get an Uber or cab there, parking can be tricky

The Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a relatively small indoor market, which over the years has turned into a tourist trap with not a lot of options. I've been to it some years ago and it was a nice experience combined with lunch / dinner at the Madinat restaurants, but these days there are security guards which prevent you from going to the restaurants unless you have a reservation. Total turn-off for us, and we will never ever recommend this place. Not worth it to visit. Jumeirah Al Qasr also over-priced and not worth it.

only cares for money but not on the welfare of animals especially to harmless cats

The madinat festive market has NO RESPECT to the customer. No control of how many tickets they issue which results to huge lines! Tickets are not reimbursable so we had to leave without using them. Boat trips need an adult so you have to buy more tickets for a 3min circle! We end up buying a ginger bread house for Aed90 which was so bad quality nothing would stick together! An incredibly bad experience , jumeirah has to understand that keeping the brand high is more important for making some quick cash taking advantage of Xmas. After so many years coming to this Xmas market this is by far the WORST experience ever. What a rip off!

This place looked great in the pictures but was a big disappointment, mostly I think because we went during the day. The place was empty, there was no music playing and zero atmosphere. We really fancied the Abra ride - the waterway is really stunning - until we found out it would cost us £100 as a family for a 20 minute ride (compare this with AED 60, approx £15, for us all to take a 30 minute private Abra tour on Dubai Creek). I can imagine you’d have a much better experience if you went at night, when restaurants would be busy etc, but if you’re thinking of a daytime visit, I’d give it a miss.

It’s a really nice area with great ambiance and a decent variety of goods but not nearly as much variety as more traditional souks. Things are priced higher as well, which is fine if you want to pay more for proximity and ambiance. Shop owners/employees were a bit pushy for my liking too. I felt like I couldn’t browse freely without being pressured to buy in most of the shops. Most of them were satisfied with “I’m not interested or no thank you or we’re still looking” and didn’t continue to pressure us. Some still continued though. It wasn’t very busy so I’m sure they’re sales are down.

The only purchase we made was some sweets at a shop called something like “Grand Bazaar Dates & Sweets.” We payed $22 USD for 2 slices of a chocolate pistachio nougat roll and 2 small pieces of baclava. Ridiculous. I didn’t think I needed to ask how much they were in advance but apparently I was wrong. They were boxed up for us before we were told the price (priced by weight). The guy kept trying to add more to the box too and I kept telling him no thank you, 2 is enough. He kept trying to get me to buy more by giving me other samples too. Normally that’s a welcomed tactic but I really wasn’t interested in anything else. Both sweets we bought were really good though! 😉

The restaurants along the water all looked like great spots to eat. We got a picture by the water with the Burj al Arab in the background. Most everyone had masks on inside and out but it didn’t appear anyone was enforcing it and we were able to remove our masks to eat and drink as we walked around.

The Souk Madunat Jumeirah mall has a very unique old style building, very pretty shops line up nicely. Very instagrammable, also have couple of nice restaurants and coffee shop. My favorite always the Belgium cafe with it’s signature dishes and Hoegarden Rosee. They also have rivwr tour by boat, just like Venice in Middle East! The Burj Al Arab handsomely standing tall as the background of pictures and boat man is very helpful to take our pictures and areange the pose. Very noce experience.

Would recommend everyone to visit Souk Madinat! It is - even if artificial built - a nice souk with a brilliant atmosphere, especially in the winter months and at sunset and evening time!
However, unfortunately you see this place since few years getting more unpopular and the crowded times are over. Being a resident in Dubai, we visited the souk after a while not being there to check out new retail and in particular F&B outlets. Amazing places have opened up. Besides consuming in 3 different restaurants and shopping in retail stores with an amount over 1.500 dirham we paid 60 dirham for the parking!!!!!! Seriously, how will this place ever get back to life??? How will the F&B outlets survive as they do not offer validating free parking for at least 3 hours (only the Jumeirah Group ones do). There is 1 hour free which is even not enough for drinking a coffee and each extra hour is 15 dirham! For unfortunately a reason to prefer other places where we even get free valet parking.
