"The Intro to Polo" - rated by British Airways as one of the top 3 essential things to do in Dubai is a once in a lifetime opportunity that allows individuals to participate in the Sport of Kings. The experience is designed to take you from the ground to riding a polo pony and hitting a ball in less than an hour! It's a safe and fun introduction to the game of polo and even those with no prior horse riding experience are always amazed by their achievements on the impeccably trained polo ponies. All of the traditional polo equipment is provided to ensure that you really do look the part for the absolutely necessary photo opportunities!

One of the reasons I moved to Dubai Arabian Ranches was that we have such an amazing polo club right next door. The manager particularly is one in a million, you need to meet him to understand. I'm hoping to move my Shetland pony polo team here next winter and all the short guys can join in the fun too. Thanks Steve for all you, Rio and the menagerie do to make our time here worthwhile.

This really is the only place worth going to if you want to learn to play or hone your existing skills.

Just spent an amazing few days at the Dubai Polo Academy. My husband loved the fast polo. The regular club members are really friendly and welcoming. My daughter and I enjoyed some fantastic but much more sedate riding, all on beautifully schooled, well mannered but lovely forward going ponies. Whatever your level, ambitions or abilities- with the quality of the horses, the range of Programmes available and Steve's expert knowledge and tuition (he's written a book on it!) you will raise your game and you'll have more fun than you could ever have anticipated. And with the rest of Dubai and all it has to offer, it really doesn't get any better. Look no further for a Polo Holiday!

Whether you're a complete Beginner or Advanced player looking to improve, I really can't recommend Dubai Polo Academy enough! Steve is an uncommonly gifted teacher who really understands how to explain things in a way that makes sense to his students. He's able to change instruction up as needed, approaching problems with just the right combination of tenacity and humor. And his perfectionistic eye sees everything (even when you perhaps wish he wouldn't notice that you're cheating...again!). I have to say, having ridden with a number of polo coaches, Steve was the absolutely the best I've been lucky enough to learn from. He found the holes in my training quickly and gave me concrete things to do to improve, while providing a hilarious running commentary. If you're serious about improving, Steve's your man! I felt like my 5 day stint at Dubai Polo Academy significantly improved both my swing and knowledge of the game.
For a complete beginner, I think that Dubai Polo Academy can get you started on the right foot, in a safe and friendly environment. If you've never tried polo, it's addictive and well worth a morning lesson. You'll find yourself hooked in more ways that one after a single lesson!
As a previous player, I found the ponies to be wonderfully kind and well schooled, able to accommodate a wide range of riders. The club was both beautiful and welcoming, with a friendly, inclusive vibe. Valerie was very responsive in setting up lessons and arranging anything you might need, from endless cappuccinos to a cell phone charger!
Steve, Valerie and Anton-- you guys made my holiday and managed to teach me a ton, in spite of myself! Thank you!!

Well after a fair amount of persuasion on my part to encourage my husband and the couple we were travelling with (neither of the men ride) to take part in this activity we arrived for an introductory lesson to polo. What a fabulous experience it was! Our instructor Steve was fantastic, highly amusing and put everyone at ease immediately. The ponies themselves are amazing and it's a real treat to have the chance to experience them. The venue is immaculate and everything you would expect it to be. We all left feeling like we had taken part in something really special and unique and would love to return again. Can't recommend it highly enough.

What an excellent experience! I can't ride (sat on a horse ±20 years ago) and after 1.5h was able to play a chukka (Polo match) with friends. Great fun! A fantastic instructor and all the gear/set-up was perfect. Best experience of 4 years in Dubai.

for half the year the dubai climate is perfect for polo and the tuition and ponies they have are excellent.
we had an hour and a half lesson for 2 of us with steve the polo pro and it was stunning.
we are both fairly good riders who ride regularly, which helps, although they will take people who have never ridden before.
the ponies are remarkably well schooled, none of your riding school ponies that are used to trotting around a ring all day and need several good kicks to get them going, these polo ponies respond to small movements of the reins to speed up, slow down and change direction, truly stunning to experience.
when you start using a polo mallet in your right hand and your left hand is full of 4 reins and a whip, having a pony that does what you want is stunning, twice i clipped my pony with the mallet and it didnt bat an eyelid and i even hit a few nice shots.
the venue is excellent and we frequently watch the polo here on a friday during the winter months, you can either drive up next to the pitch and take a picnic or go into the clubhouse restaurant and bar and have a full meal on the terrace.
occassionally they have big matches and we have seen argentina v england here which was world class

Im an iranian rider wanna learning polo in this academy so how much time should i spend there at least? And for one week staying how much should i pay containing hotel and tuition for polo classes???

Dear Iranian rider, the Dubai Polo Academy is open from mid-October to May, from Monday to Saturday, from 6 am to 9 am and 3 pm to 6:00 pm. We do offer polo clinics over a minimum of 3 days where by the end of it you will be able to play a mini chukka. Our prices, for a typical 3 days course, range from 9,675.00 AED on a private basis and 6,005.00 AED on a shared basis (minimum 2 persons). There are guest-rooms 15 min away from the Polo Club and we will be happy to help you get a booking there.
