About
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo is one of the most captivating attractions in Dubai. Located at The Dubai Mall, the largest mall in the world, offering a memorable journey into ocean life. With capacity to hold 10 million litres of water, Dubai Aquarium is one of the largest indoor aquariums in the world and it illuminates the marvels of the ocean floor, showcasing one of the most diverse collections of aquatic life. Located just above the aquarium, Underwater Zoo brings visitors up close with penguins, piranhas, crabs, water rats, sea horses, jellyfish and plenty more. A fascinating new addition at Underwater Zoo is King Croc, regarded as nature's rare phenomenon and one of the world's largest reptiles - at over 5 meters long and weighing an imposing 750 kg plus. Underwater Zoo regularly hosts innovative exhibits. One such exhibit, 'UAE's Night Creatures' presents the experience of nightfall in the desert as creatures of the dark.

Top ways to experience Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo
The area
Neighborhood: Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.

Disappointing aquarium.

The aquarium from the mall is very impressive. Unfortunately, that is where it ends. I purchased a combination ticket online for the Burj which included the aquarium. I am glad I did and did not purchase it separately, because it is not worth the cost for this aquarium. It is just a clear tube that runs through the center of the aquarium and that is all. There is not much to this and you are better off going to the Lost Chambers Aquarium at Atlantis if you want to see an aquarium.

Not worth the price
May 2021 • Family
The idea of an aquarium inside a mall sounds interesting, but the price of this experience is way too high. I paid 1200 for 1 adult and 2 children (6&9). The photos are a complete rip-off, especially the ones taken during the penguin encounter. As someone mentioned before, they ask you to store your phone. A smiling photographer is there taking pictures throughout the visit. At the end, the same smiling photographer asks you to choose the photos you like, prints them and hands them to your kids’.. and then says that each photo costs 200aed, in my case - 600 total. Nice strategy.

Never seen this before

An aquarium and zoo in a shopping mall in the middle of the desert. Never seen this before, and really surprised that this is possible in the shopping mall.

A pleasurable 2-hour diversion
May 2021
This multi-floor, vertically-oriented aquarium is an architectural marvel. Much like other attractions is Dubai, it tries to do everything a little better than the competition. It succeeds in some ways.

The ticket counter sold us the most expensive ticket without offering other options. I found this very sleazy. In the end, I am glad that we had access to everything. The collections are top rate. The sharks, rays, and other fish in the large tank are breathtaking. They had birds, crocs, many land animals, and--of course--lots of fish.

We were given an opportunity to feed the fish in one tank; that was lame. There was a glass-bottom boat ride that was also lame. (OK, we are adults; might be fun for kids)

Overall, glad we went even if we paid extra.

Awfull - stay away

Complete Rip-Off. Avoid under all cost. Small Tunnel and a handfull bassins with common fish. That´s it. Additional "Experiences" might be nice, but of course for extra cost. I was through in 5 Minutes

Worst experience - just liars and scammers
Apr 2021 • Family
Worst experience ever. Had the ticket with penguin encounter and got robbed big time. Avoid at all costs.
You do not touch the penguin, you are not allowed to take your phone for photos so they take your photo and ask 200 dirhams/photo when you get out. Pure robbery.
The penguins are really cute, but unfortunately they are the only cute things out there.
The guides should sync their stories cuz some of them said the penguins are young and still in training while others said they are 15-20 yo.

The aquarium is so underwhelming...Lost Chambers from Atlantis is much much better.
The zoo is interesting, but nothing wow.

Either way, it does not deserve your attention, waste of time.

A sweet break from the shopping
Mar 2021
We bought the ticket in combination with the Burj Kalif At The Top experience and we weren't sure what to expect.
However, we were curious to see how a zoo would fit inside a mall and we didn't expect much of it. We were so wrong! After half a day of shopping we decided to go to the zoo. The aquarium is so huge and there is a whole lot of fish in the tank. My favorites were clearly all the stingrays.
My friend enjoyed the birds more, she loved the macaws. All in all the path through the zoo is giving a nice adventurous feeling.
Also we got lucky and saw the king croc being fed. That was super impressive, seeing such a huge animal taking its prey.
Recommend if you want a quite moment during a day of shopping.

I went to Burj Khalifa on the 125th floor. The views from such great height were both nerve wrecking and amazing. I also gave a visit to the aquarium which breathtaking.
