We stopped here at the end of our day - promised there would be ice cream parlours (but i suppose it is winter) and we could relax. Minus the ice cream its a great spot. A piece of land unspoilt by commercialism, hotels, expensive restaurants. You park and walk. Great views of the ocean and i'm pretty sure you could see Syria (as the land curves).

The port is amazing not only because it's the only place in Lebanon with small islands but also because of the atmosphere created there on Saturdays and Sundays; little children playing on bikes eating boiled corn, popcorn, drinking the sugar juice or jallab or sahlab. If you like to see local people and meet new friends it's the place to be.

El-Mina Port is the site of the ancient city of Tripolis, now called Tripoli in Northern Lebanon. This port dates back to the Phoenician era, and is one of Lebanon's oldest cities along the sea coast.
The Mina Port is made up of nine islands and today only one is connected to the land.
When we visited this great old site the port was bustling with activity from fishing boats entering and departing the port to tourist’s boats ferrying tourist to view the other smaller islands.
Just a few meters from El-Mina Port you can find many seafood restaurants, of course, featuring the fresh seafood just caught hours prior from El-Mina Port.

Well, of course, it is nothing but a port. But I’m in principle fond of ports. Seeing them lively and busy with daily labour, with the always present fishermen mending their gear, with ships loading and unloading, and boats sailing in and out, gives an impression of continuity of life no matter what.
On the sunny day that I wandered along Al Mina quay, it was impossible to believe that just a few kilometers away there were fights and shootings. Here it was life and business as usual.
Even though it is believed that the Phoenician city has originally developed from here, present “modernized” Al Mina, with lots of shops and cafes across the road, makes a remarkable contrast to the old part of Tripoli. I have fairly enjoyed few quirky contemporary monuments on the other side of the quay.
It is from here that you can take a boat to one of the nearby islands, including to the Palm Island with its Nature Reserve. Sadly I was too pressed in time to enjoy this experience.

Once in Tripoli and the weather permits, pass by the Mina and have a trip in the sea with a reputable carrier. Plan a day to swim on one of the islands.

Nice for a stroll during the day, renting a bike, and visit a small island near by with playground for kids.
Good for going till rather late at night, where locals play cards and smoke nargile(occasionally watching a football match on large screens). You can also have lunch or dinner or cheap street food.Just 1000 LBP by shared taxi from the center of Tripoli.

We really enjoyed the Mina side of Tripoli, the port was filled with families adukts and children. Everyone seemed to be doing something to entertain themselves. Whether it was riding bikes, eating or smoking an argile.
We stopped by the side and hired bikes at 2000LL for half an hour and rode up and down the port.
A fantastic experience, we loved it!

Al-Mina Port is a must go to when visiting Tripoly. Beautiful view of the sunset and the endless ocean. Cafes everywhere where you can have tea and hooka. There's a beautiful mosque overlooking the ocean. A serene feeling while sitting at the Mina Port despite the trash which have been thrown on the sea shore which should be cleaned since such a place is a true jewl and its sad seeing that the shore is not being regularly cleaned and taken care of.

It is lovely to stroll during the day or night since the view is lovely at both times. In the winter you can see the mountains filled with snow as you walk on the beach
