One of the old Jeddah markets. A lot of appropriate and cheap goods, makes you feel the spirit of the old Arab markets, the smell of incense and the calls of vendors. Narrow streets suitable to visit throughout the year

Is not the fanciest place on earth, but if you want to know the culture and walk around a little among the natives and their habits, this is one of the best places for you to visit. Here you can find the souvenirs (which is not very easy to find in malls for example).

This place is just to visit and do not buy anything from here, the products the shopkeepers are selling are of low and poor quality and prices are high and the place is most of the time dirty and unhygienic with sewer water flowing out of gutter giving fowl smell

Really interesting experience going down the small corridors with different shops. Some areas are fairly modern and some are older which is very evident by the architecture. Shops range from modern day machine manufactured items to food and hand crafted items. It's quite a scene with people of many backgrounds milling about. The best part for me was the photo... More

Gold is sold by weight (check the price daily in the newspaper for more bargaining power) and a small charge is added for workmanship. A... More

it nice old type of market and shopping area also you can get things cheaper then the rest of the city. but for me it not the worth the long trip and crowded road to reach there. but I'm sure any one who is coming fro western country will love the area.

Gabel Street is the last bastion of old Jeddah shopping. Don't look for the latest fashion and high-end offerings that have migrated north over the last couple of decades (I do believe that the high-end Gazzaz chain maintains a store in Al-Balad, however. Al-Balad and Gabel Street are what is left of a history of a Hejazi 'souk' - think... More
