I attended the story telling session on my 5th night in Luang Prabang. I thought it was the perfect time to take in some traditional stories from the area, after having taken in the sights and sounds over the preceding days. The venue, like most...More

Credit to the storyteller for his command of the English language, and to his elderly companion for playing the instrument, the sound of which was lovely. But it was a very long hour with the strange tones and accents difficult to understand and the storylines...More

I’m a native English speaking linguist and I struggled to hear what we’re well acted stories unfortunately spoilt by the strain to understand the narrative If you English is anything less than native speaker then you will not follow the storyline

I loved this show and so very glad that I discovered it. Yes, it was a little difficult to follow the stories sometimes because of the music being a tad too loud and the accent a little different than what I am used to hearing...More

The story telling skills and chemistry of the story tellers had us wondering why we hadn’t heard of Garavek before stumbling across it while walking back to the hotel! It was extremely affordable and a wonderful hour spent hearing old folk tales from a dynamic...More

Such a wonderful way to spend an hour listening to the passionate storytelling of old folklore. The time flew as the storyteller fluently spoke of old tales of this region while his accompanying musician played what we learnt to be a cam, an ancient musical...More

This enchanting show is really worth the visit. Hearing the locals tell stories and play a traditional bamboo instrument was touching, funny and thought provoking. Who would have guessed the "real" origin of Mount Phousi? 😊 Well worth 50.000 Kip. Thank you Garavek!

This show is such a great way to experience Laotian folktales and see a little insight of the culture. The performance was provided by two locals. One storyteller whose performance was very animated and set the scene; and an elderly man who played the traditional...More

Our family of 4 enjoyed this performance very much. The tales were great and the performers spirited! Our 8 and 10 year olds had some trouble understanding the words, but they loved the Khene player and the drama. Siphai is an expressive storyteller.

We went to this show based on the strength of the other reviewers. I rarely review shows but this was so bad I felt inspired. First, the language barrier. Oh boy, they advertise the show in English but that "performer" was incomprehensible. But at least...More
