Quiet and away from the crowds
Jan 2020
We arrived here about 1pm on our way back from the morning at the falls. The guy working the front counter was very rude. It cost 40,000kip (about $6CAD) to enter. They give you a map and educations information to help guide you threw Laos wildlife & plants.

The Park offers educational excursions to local school children to increase awareness of the fragile ecosystem.

The property is split into five area: the butterfly garden enclosure, colourful garden, orchid garden, cactus garden and a waterfall. There are many different types of butterflies in many different sizes in a lush green gardens. There were also a lot of lazy cats.

There is a small restaurant with koi fish pond and ducks. They serves cold drinks , sandwiches and small desserts. On site restrooms were clean and they had western toilets.

A blissful experience
Feb 2020
At the Falls,we were approached by a friendly Dutch lady who told us about the Butterfly Park which I visited on the way back to Luang Prabang with our daughter. It was a haven of delight and peace. There were knowledgeable people on the spot to give insight to the species and their life patterns. As a butterfly lover from Europe this sanctuary was a welcome surprise.

A treat for butterfly lovers ...
Jan 2020
It's always a pleasure to be invited to share someone else's dream ... This butterfly park was set up about six years ago by Ineke - who greeted us on arrival - and Olaf, a couple from the Netherlands, who see the butterflies not only as an attraction for visitors, but also as a way to develop an understanding and love of nature in local people (particularly children).

The setting is one of the prettiest we have seen - a valley below the waterfalls, delightfully planted with flowers, trees and shrubs. Butterflies were fluttering all around us as we walked down towards the large enclosed area, and inside the netting we found even more butterflies enjoying the late morning sun. I had a wonderful time trying to capture them in photos - it takes about a hundred to end up with a dozen good ones - but loved the challenge. I noticed that whereas many butterfly gardens put out trays of fruit for the butterflies to encourage them to settle, this particular park decorates its feeding stations with flowers, which looks much prettier, and there is much planting of lantana shrubs, too, to provide nectar.

We also had coffee and some of the Dutch apple cake at the café.

My husband thought this was the best butterfly park we had seen in Asia.

A visit can be combined with a trip to the waterfalls, the bear sanctuary, and the buffalo dairy, or any of the above - we did the buffaloes as well as the butterflies and found that a morning gave us enough time for both.

Butterfly Park near Waterfalls.
Jan 2020
Very nice butterfly park near the Waterfalls. It is definitely worth the stop to see the amazing butterfly exhibit. After a short walk you are in an enclosure so you can get up close and personal with the butterflies.

Beautiful butterflies

Great project worthy of support. You can see amazing butterflies and then at developmental stages. You can watch the butterflies at the stations provided for them to pollinate. Get your feet eaten by fish is a bonus. Nice cafe with a lovely pond with fish.

good project and beautiful setting
Feb 2020
set by the nearby waterfall and having its own stream and mini watefall is the perfect setting for this worthwhile endeavour. And then there is the butterfly cage which is a fascinating and great experience. If it isn't included in your trip to the waterfall add it in!

Worth a visit
Feb 2020
This is worth a visit, especially if combined with a visit to the Kuang si waterfalls.
Lots of information available and also an opportunity for having your feet cleaned by the fish!

What a pleasant surprise
Feb 2020 • Couples
We entered the place on our way back from the waterfalls and it was such a pleasant surprise. The butterflies are stunning and interesting information is provided in a very pleasant way. It is beautifully arranged and very clean. They have a small cafe/restaurant and we had a delicious apple pie and good coffee. The Dutch couple that runs the place is lovely and friendly. We wish we had more time to spend in this unique and tranquil place.

Beautiful Gardens
Feb 2020 • Family
This is one of the best butterfly gardens I have been too. The kids loved the butterfly scavenger hunt. The staff was amazing. There was a beautiful woman inside the butterfly area that was super knowledgeable. She was very engaging and the kids were good listeners. The grounds are set up well and the little cafe was selling some delicious smelling food. I would def make a trip here if you have young children (mine are 4 and 7).
