Probably the best shop in town! It is expensive related to the other shops and the city itself, but the prices are reasonable if you compare it to European standards. The products are high quality, silk, organic, hand-made and unique. They have traditional artists who make them and really one of a kind! The staff is also very kind and helpful.

We visited the OPT store after our late afternoon craft experience making silk tie dyed scarves. We bought several pieces of crafts hand woven and silk handmade scarves. We loved the way that the arts and crafts were displayed on walls, tables, banquets, etc. The staff was extremely helpful.

Just in case you don't have a chance to go out to the LIving Craft Centre on the river, the shop is right in the middle of town. It's a mini museum of Lao craft and textiles with lovely things displayed for inspection and sale in an old traditional building in a lovely garden with a cafe appended.
If you do want to expand your Ock Pop Tok experience, then there is a free tuktuk standing by to whisk you out there and bring you back. Just ask the sales staff.
There are clean toilets on site also.

I visited both this Heritage shop and also the Boutique by Ock Pop Tok nearby. Got some scarves as the quality is great. Staff are also very friendly, speak English well and knowledgeable about the products. Enjoyable shopping experience.

They have several locations, we visited them all. We loved the products which are beautifully made (and displayed in the store), they seem a little expensive compared to others you see in town, but the quality is great. Don’t make the mistake we made which was to not buy something because we couldn’t decide, and we now regret that as we are back home.

Dear nicholaswillmott, Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and appreciation for our work. We operate on a platform of fair trade and pay our artisan collaborators fair wages, including annual leave and medical benefits. While this add to the cost, we feel like there is tremendous value in keeping traditional skills in use and providing livelihood opportunities. -- If you would like to buy something, please check out our online shop and/or send us an email describing what you wish you had bought and we'll be happy to ship it you! Cheers, The Ock Pop Tok Team

High quality hand woven goods from local artisans. Lots of color here along with a range of items; wall-hangings, clothing, purses. Prices reflect the quality of getting a meticulous piece of art by a Lao craftsperson.

My regret is not buying the large wall hanging by a master weaver that I saw here. I'll now enter into email dialogue to see if they still have it and can send it.
The quality and style of the work here is outstanding. Having subsequently seen most of the other "leading" outlets across Laos and Cambodia I'd say that this has the best and most reasonably priced top-quality weaving and such that can be found. The craftsmanship in the larger wall hangings is astounding. If you are starting in LP and you see something you like here then buy it, you won't find better as I found to my cost.

We wandered into Ock Pop Tok when walking around Luang Prabang on the first day of our stay, and made it a point to come back before leaving. The craftsmanship of their goods is unlike anything we had seen up until that point... everything is made by hand on location and done in the traditional Lao style. This is compared to the numerous markets where we have seen the exact same patterns and products across every similar store claiming that their products are made "by hand" but done at a location not accessible by tourists.

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about discussing the various methods and meanings behind the crafts being displayed. We were given an impromptu 101 in Lao design and weaving techniques by a staff member through a natural interaction and just being so blown away by their beauty. Furthermore, the shop supports local workers with fair wages and supports traditional lao designs and techniques - even going as far as providing free english tutoring to sales staff.

The items are a bit more expensive than other stores - however, you are buying real hand-made and high-quality goods in support of local businesses versus machine made garbage made in sweatshops.

I highly recommend this store, if only to see the beauty of their crafts.

`If you want cheap - go to the night market.
If you want authentic that has the artists name on it and items from many different tribal groups then this is a great place.
Beautiful items in great store
