I was recommended to go to the L’Hibiscus for a massage, when I arrived I was very hot from walking. I was offered a shower and a robe to change into before being shown to the massage room. The experience was very good and the massage was great.
I will definitely be going back before I leave!

You will see some mixed reviews here which probably comes down purely to expectations. If you want a hotel style 5 star spa experience then go to those spas - there are some available in the $40 to $50 range which is still great value. If you've got used to spending Kip and by that I mean not a lot and you don't want to spend too much on a massage then there are dozens of 'spas' around in the $10 range. Most look like convenience stores with probably questionable service, but L'Hibiscus is in a charming old building which makes you feel like going back in time a bit and gives you a local flavour. Myself and wife booked a 1 hour aromatherapy massage which just meant an oil massage. You should visit in advance and make an appointment. We just had to wait 30 mins so grabbed a coffee next door. We could choose from 4 oils and got changed into a robe which was a little on small side but that's Asia for you. A foot wash to begin with (nice touch) was followed by a nice relaxing massage in a typical Asian fusion style which for those that live in this part of world will be familiar with. If you want a strong deep massage then you'll probably have to go for the traditional Lao one but that does not include oil. I found the massage very satisfactory. So again, if you want to just spend about $10 on a massage then this is the place to go. You get what you pay for.

I was able to have my massage without booking. Showed to the shower for a change of clothes. Very comfortable clothes. Therapist was pretty good. Nice place to chill over tea afterwards! 👍

We just got back from a 1.5 hour “lao” massage. This place is rated well. However our experience was quite mediocre if not bad. Both women masseuses were not very strong and conducted a fairly lame unfocused massage spending 75pc of the time on legs. Then a brief trip up the back on both arms and a little neck after promptly asking us to sit up. After a few slaps on the back the masseuse announced “finished” and walked out. Although there probably isn’t a lao culture of massage ... this lane passing off of a type of Thai massage just didn’t cut it.

These ladies were not trained AT ALL. Requests for more pressure (twice) fell on deaf ears, lackluster and no systematic approach. I do not even want to waste time on writing more about this place - safe your money and go elsewhere. Out of 30+ massages in Thailand and Laos over a two week period, this place came stone last.

Still trying to wash off the low quality oil we were drenched in during the massage.

We had a foot massage with cream, it was very relaxing and we found it very cheap for 1 hour only 60.000 kips. Nice experience

Ok, the massage was ok, it hurts but I guess that’s how a Lao traditional massage goes.

But the manicure was a so bad. It cost more than other places in town and the outcome was awful.

Terrible experience. Masseur practically was high and dozed off asleep right at the start of foot massage. She shouldn't be working! Asked for change of masseur but already bad impression of the place despite high rating. Went to other places and got a much better Laos massage.

Actually I would have prefered no massage than this massage. As a non professional, I would have done better. I just spend the whole time counting the minutes because I didn’t dare to stop.
The middle aged women at the entrance looked like the type who exploits the poor girls, who have no choice but work even if exhausted. And the cream for the feet was diluted in water, probably to save some more...

The building and decor are really cool and the massage was satisfactory. This town has expensive tourist massages and then hole-in-the-wall options and this seemed to be a trustworthy option. The therapists were not friendly and didn't seem happy and the massage was only okay.
