Taking a private boat cruise on the Mekong River to visit the popular Kuang Si waterfalls surely beats the tuk tuk land method most people use. A comfortable boat, a friendly and competent boat captain, light lunch (sandwiches, fruits, peanuts, dried river seaweed) complemented by a few soft drinks, water, and a beer per adult), languid river travel with verdant... We wanted to take a boat ride on the Mekong and visit the Kouangxi falls. Took the banana boat Bb01 trip. We were picked at our hotel by a tuk tuk and transferred to the boat. The first stop was a visit a temple and caves on the opposite shore of Luang Prabang. Then we reached our final stop where... More

Emi did a great job of organising a boat and walking tour for us in Nongkhiaw. Not only did we experience the breathtaking scenery along the river, we also went into the villages to catch a glimpse of local life. Highly recommended!

We organised a trip to Nong Khiew through Banana Boat tours. I also have an interest in textiles so wanted to include a visit to a "weaving" village. Had a great drive up through stunning scenery. Nong Khiew has to be seen to be believed.. Emi of Banana boat organised simple accommodation looking over the river. What a joy to... More

Laos is beautiful and the people are very nice so you’re going to have a great time. You'll feel good visiting because you know you are directly supporting the people. Issue is that if you’re paying for a tour service - foreign owned - you expect some service and organization that you will simply not get from Emi at Banana... More

It is difficult to respond to this but here are a few facts, that are omitted above. On receiving an email that Dan and his wife were not happy with the kayaking trip, responded right away with a 30% refund for the day tour. Maybe if Dan had stated what he really wanted in terms of compensation it would have been... More

An "awesome" experience, in the best use of the term. You can have an experience and a glimpse of why this river, as well as others, are so essential to the lives of many Laotians. For a Westerner, the experience is a real eye opener. The long, narrow boats bring you closer to the water than traditional western-style motored boats can... More

This is my second visit to Laos. After some research, I connected with Emi, owner of Banana Boat and Ma Te-Sai Handicraft shop at Luang Prabang. She recommended us a 3 days 2 nights Nong Khiaw trip with a stop over at a cotton village along the way from Luang Prabang to Nong Khiaw. During the second day, we were... More

My husband and I had a private boat tour up the river. Did quite a bit of climbing stairs to get to temples and a great private flashlight lit tour of the lime stone caves. Our boat driver/guide was very knowledgeable and KNEW everyone. Falls were beautiful and not too busy - we were warned by our hotel that going... More

Thanks for your review Melinda, we are a small company offering a different experience and often go out with only two on a boat, that is why we price the way we do, so we can operate with only two and you can have a great experience. Also great feedback on the falls as here we think how busy it... More

We took the sunset cruise. Everything went well. But we should have just gone to the water and hired a boat. No need to pay the price and do this through a company. They had a Tuk Tuk pick us up and called about their arrival time. They had water, beer, dried bananas and mushrooms, spring rolls which were nice... More

Hi Christine, thanks for your review I will let the captain know to take more time, now the sun sets at 530pm and they should linger a bit, so I will let him know. I do find it funny that you say it was all nice but why pay for this service. Lately I have had many people coming in... More

This was a wonderful way to explore around Luang Prabang. You have your own boat and they let you self-direct your tours and your times. Very friendly and amazing staff.
