This is easily my favorite place in SE Asia. Great taste in books, great taste in film, great taste in food. Great atmosphere. I visited here some 14 years ago and still have fond memories. What struck me that was not just that I could buy & swap books but that I could also just donate them because the store ran as a free multi-lingual library for locals. I can't wait to return and show this place to my new family.

I've just finished eating one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I definitely recommend the ceasar melt. So good!
Lovely drinks and service too but I think this sandwich experience will stay with me forever. Thank you 😋

We returned several times to movie night here, a lovely seating space and nice drinks and food. Chocolate mousse was delicious! They had a good range of movies being shown and it was free!

A place with a great atmosphere, where you can look for books and you have the feeling when you’re buying those books of connecting with other travelers. There are language in many language (the most are English and German, but there are also something in Italian, French and Spanish). The owner is very helpful and nice, making you feel really welcomed in her shop/café.
The movie night was great and very relaxing! Perfect for a chilling evening in Luang Prabang.

If you are a young traveler, please do visit. Yes, a young at heart does count too. I felt the place is meant for older teens and younger twenty-somethings. Nice little place selling tea, coffee, meals and locally made stuff. The owner is a French lady who has been running this place for 18 years, she said! That’s wow! She is chatty and good fun to speak with.
Her staff could do with a little bit more training. The guy who served me looked lost and a little scared as I was the first customer to enter the cafe that day, it seems.
Anyway, nice place. I had an iced tea and spent some time reading my book upstairs which has a lounge and the art gallery. There is a daily movie screening there. You could try!

It's a cosy place and I can definitely recommend you to go watch a movie. It's free as long as you order sth to eat or drink.

Lovely little coffee shop/bar. We enjoyed our short stop with iced coffee and a banana and chocolate crepe. Good price, nice location. Could have stayed a lot longer. Thank you

... I probably expected to much! I expected more book choice and being in a type of bookshop. It's a coffee place with a library and most of the nice books are not in english...

This cute little shop is a nice "time out" during a busy day and a great place to meet other travelers. Originally, a book store for the Lao people, who have little access to books, L'etranger Books and Tea now boasts of one of the best places in LP for travelers to rent, buy and exchange books. Besides tour books, novels and more, it also has a wide selection of DVD's. Every night is "movie night" (free), showing DVD's in the neat Laotian style den upstairs. You can chill for hours using the free wi-fi, while enjoying tea, coffee, and even a meal. The food and atmosphere is great. I spent many hours here, just taking some time out and enjoying the people I met and the conversations we had.

Great place to start the day. Got the breakfast special for 35,000 K. Eggs, bread, and small fruit cup with a POT of tea or coffee. Balanced meal for good price. Also some cool books and handmade lotions, soaps, etc.
