They have interesting collections. I was lucky to have the curator showing me around out of kindness and passion for her work. But the bldg needs to upgrade urgently and collections need digitalization. Worth the detour and visit for sure.

If you are really a history lover better visit the place with antique items visuals and some mannequins of all the Prince that used to govern Indo-Pak back in 1700's. Pakistan's oldest coins and stamps being displayed as well. Old wepons that were used to fight wars are also being displayed here.

located on Mall road, was established in 1895, and was for a while curated by Rudyard Kipling's father. The museum contains a fine selection of paintings and weapons, and is particularly well known for its collection of artefacts from the Gandharan civilisation. Visiting lahore museum can be a great experience for you but make sure you have plenty of time to visit itProbably the most famous exhibit is the spectacular 'Fasting Buddha'.

The Lahore Museum has some quite interesting exhibits, but the presentation is extremely boring. There is nothing to make the artifacts or photographs come alive. Very disappointing.

Lahore Museum is the oldest and the largest museum in Pakistan. Its collections represent the cultural history of the country from earliest known to modern times. The museum comprises numerous Galleries like Gandhara Gallery, Islamic Gallery, Arms Gallery, Ethnological Gallery, General Gallery, Pre-historic and proto-historic Gallery, Hindu, Buddhist Jaina Gallery, Manuscripts and Calligraphies Gallery, Postage Stamps Gallery, Contemporary Crafts Gallery and Coins and Medals Gallery etc.
Photography is allowed on payment, but mobile phones cannot be taken inside the museum. Curios, handicrafts shop, bookshop and souvenirs shop are available.
Everything has been nicely maintained and any visitor would only be too happy to visit this attraction.

The Lahore Museum was established 1894. Lahore Museum is also located at Mall Road, Lahore. The present building of Lahore Museum was designed by the Sir Ganga Ram and it is the biggest museum of the country. There are numbers of heritage items are being kept here such as weapons, textiles, jewelry. People and especially students visit this museum and observe the old age things.

We visited Lahore Museum and got thrilled to see its historical collection of artifacts. Lahore Museum was Founded in 1865 during the British colonial period, Lahore Museum is now one of Pakistan’s most visited and highly regarded museums. The museum, along with the Zamzama Gun located directly in front of the building, were made famous in the celebrated British novel Kim, written by Rudyard Kipling - whose father was one of the museum’s earliest curators. The museum is now also renowned for its extensive collection of Buddhist art from the ancient Indo-Greek and Gandhara kingdoms. BEST place to visit in Lahore.(CITY TOUR LAHORE 03008094313,03321486325)

Lahore Museum gives you all the history of Lahore and Pakistan. If you love history this place is a must visit. Ticket is not very expensive. The attraction begins with the building itself, which dates from the British Colonial period. The museum itself has some fabulous collections. I spent a few hours in the museum easily.

The entry fee seems to be a bit unfair: 400rp for foreinginers (+25rp for a camera) where 20rp only for a Pakistanian, but it really worth it. I've been particulary fascinated by the Gandhara exposition. They have a lot of beautiful sculptures from the buddist period of the kingdom.
If you've been in Saranath (near Varanasi - Buddhist holy place) before, and seen there the Ashoka pilar without the top, you will find the original Ashoka pilar top in the museum :).
