We were lucky enough to be shown round by the Museum Director, a charming and erudite man. The building is a colonial treasure and the collection is first class, especially the Gandharan artefacts. The exhibits are professionally displayed and easy to see. The gardens are beautiful. Just one request - please clean the ladies’ loos. Can easily be visited from Islamabad in a day.

Peshawar is a great with a unique culture, once it was the hub of Buddhist & Gandhara Civilizations. It had gates of Old Town like the other famous Old cities. The people of Peshawar are very hospitable and it is also called the province of hospitality. If you want to explore Peshawar with real and true history then you can call/WhatsApp on
+92-333 4033331. Peshawar is also called the city of flowers.

The Peshawar museum is an excellent place to visit, starting with its building. It is housed in an old British building, which is architectually interesting. The building is large and airy, quite pleasant.

The museum collection is very interesting. They have many stone statues and in particular boast a full collection of the Buddha's life in stone statues. They also have a rare statue of the emaciated Buddha. In addition they have various stone inscriptions, manuscripts, and cultural items from Pakistan's northern cultures on display.

One can easily spend a few enjoyable hours in this museum.

I visited the place with my nephew Rayan khan who contested in the archives hall for climate change. Visiting the place was a dream lane stroll. statues, daggers, swords, knives, shawls carpets, utinsils every thing orignal and worth watching. The fasting budha is the soul of the whole show. the breath stopping transe of the great meditation looked live. i stopped for minutes as if i was engrossed in the exercise.

I have been to different museums in Pakistan but this one has got the best pieces of Gandhara art however the other pieces of Mughal and Kalash eras are on display too.
From coins to old calligraphy, everything is exceptional here.
It is centrally located and take 10/15 drive from Saddar and old city of Peshawar.
