Mandalay uprising
Mar 2021 • Solo
The funeral of a women (32yr) who died of a gunshot wound to the head on the evening of 28 February in Mandalay during againt military coup, was attended by many people. She is Ma Desei, has a son is 7 year old. Her's body was laid to rest on March 1 at around 10:00 am at the street of Mandalay for praying, and was buried according to Islamic tradition at Aye Yeik Nyein Cemetery.

Worst mall I have ever been to!!!
Jan 2019 • Solo
This is by far the worst shopping mall I have ever seen! Many shops are empty, some escalators are not working and everything is FAKE and it to tell that they are China copies. Yet when you ask they say it's real and the price is almost the same as if I bought the real deal in Germany! What an absolute ripoff, especially for the Burmese (or whomever actually buys something here) thinking they are getting good authentic quality for the price they are paying.
An absolute disgrace!

Perhaps fine if you live in Mandalay
Jan 2019 • Solo
Compared to Junction City and Sule Square malls in Yangon, this one is average. Maybe the market of middle class and upmarket shoppers is just very small in Mandalay. You get the feeling Yatanar is struggling to survive. Many shops further away from the moving staircases are empty.

Anyway there are some restaurants on the top floor (Korean food and a donut place) as well as a playground for kids. Many shops selling clothes, shoes, bags on level 2 and 3 and on the ground floor jewellery. In the basement there is an Ocean supermarket with Dutch cheese and other imported stuff (chocolate). Perhaps this mall is okay if you live in Mandalay.

Excellent mall in Mandalay
Jan 2018
This is one of the best malls in Mandalay.
The street shopping in the center of the mall is a novel concept. All major brands are represented here with a interesting food court. Do visit this mall when you are in Mandalay.

You can find the Ocean grocery at the base level helpful. Good fresh and imported products can be found there.

Awfull shopping Mall
Mar 2018 • Solo
Yatanar Shopping Mall is quite new but already runned down.

Almost every shop sell cheap quality Chinese products, bags and acrylic women’s clothing.
Some so-called jewelry shops, where I wouldn’t buy as much as a small ring.

A fake Uni Qlo shop in the middle of the mall tell everything about what this mall is about.

Not Worth the Effort
Jul 2017 • Business
I live and work in Mandalay and pass Yatanar Mall routinely on my way elsewhere. Today I decided to go into the mall to poke around because I was looking for a few things I had not been able to find in other shops. What I discovered was a mixture of clothing stores and vacant locations (mostly on the upper floors). There's a central set of escalators, and a spiderweb of corridors lined with shops that sprawls out confusingly from these escalators. The stores are mostly locally owned and you won't see the big names you find at typical large Asian malls.

The top 2 floors are about 90% vacant, but the remaining floors are fairly well occupied and most seemed to be doing a brisk enough business. I'd say that for the average tourist this mall is not worth the time unless you happen to be in the area for some other reason and want to simply nose around for 20 to 30 minutes. You have to have a major interest in women's clothes and shoes though. Scattered around you''' find the occasional jewelry store, restaurant, and book shop.

Not worth a visit
Feb 2017
Ugly shopping mall with lots of cheap stores and almost no customers.
If you pass coincidentally you can have a look at it, but don't make a targeted tour there.
Fortunately we found at least three shirts for my boyfriend for little money, so the visit wasn't completely useless.

Boring
Jan 2017
Absolutely boring place, avoid. There are 5 or 6 levels and only 2 of them are open. It's not the mall, it's a market even with a fake Uniqlo store.
