This small theatre and a small group of puppeteers are really keeping the traditional Myanmar culture alive. The duration of the show is one hour but you will not feel that you were sitting for an hour. The young people who are doing the tasks...More

There’s so much to like about this small, community-style group of teachers and artists working to keep alive a traditional Myanmar cultural form. The young people who staff the ticket counter and help with background tasks are all trying to learn English: they invited us...More

An hour whizzed by! The puppeteers are amazing as they recreate the intricate movements of breathing and hand tapping. After the show take a cycle rickshaw home - JoJo will be waiting outside and is very reasonable (he works to support his mum who's in...More

This was a must do in Mandalay. Love that they are keeping the tradition alive. Great show. Tickets 15,000 kyat and worth every bit of it. Nice, English speaking staff.

My friend and I really enjoyed this performance. Not only do you get to enjoy the intricate marionettes, but every now and then they break the "4th wall" to let you see the handlers above, which is fascinating. They're accompanied by a live 5-piece traditional...More

I attended the Myanmar marionette show in Mandalay last night, and loved it. It's a playful cultural show highlighting Myanmar society, along the lines of the water puppet show in Saigon, Vietnam (also worth seeing). I thought that the young lady mimicking a puppet in...More

The biggest waste of my 10$ and since I was with my bf it was $20 for two. The puppet artists were good and puppeteers made funny jokes at the end - no complaints here. Orchestra was bad, music not in time, they were joking...More

My boyfriend and I were the only audience at the show. However, instead of cancelling the show, the musicians and puppeteers delivered an impeccable performance. The show consists of live chamber music, and scenes from a variety of traditional marionette performances. It was such a joy...More
