Visit on St Mary’s Day (August 15, 2019)
Aug 2019
One of the oldest churches in Constanta. Church is inspired by the Greek Orthodox religion, but services are in Romanian. The church has many beautiful icons. The day I visited the church was full of visitors, many of whom left bread and cakes adorned with candles. This is a must see church.

A spiritual suprise near the sea!

I discovered by chance this little church, coming from a museum in the old centre. It is a small but nice and colourful church. It does not look too classical as it reminds me of the Greek temples but it's normal as it was originally a Greek church. It is located near the sea and the colour of the stones is very charming. I spent some time inside too and it was very pleasant as it was empty. I got invited by the person working inside at the special New Year's Eve service :).

This beautiful church is obviously still in use. It has nothing of the grandness of many touristy churches but it does have a richness in art and use. it wears its history on its walls. I stumbled upon this little gem. I had a wander around inside and enjoyed the quietness and sanctuary.

A fantastic and welcoming place to visit
Aug 2016 • Friends
I was a little uncertain when I first visited but the volunteers really work hard to make you feel welcome and genuinely demonstrate a desire to share the building with you. The frescos are in need of repair but are still worth viewing and it is a great place to stop for anyone who has never visited an Orthodox church before.

do not miss this when visit Constanta

The Metamorfosis church is one of the oldest in the city, Greek-Orthodox, located in the greek neighbourhood, in Peninsula area. Nearby is the greek theatre, nowadays the children puppets theatre. The imposing building has its own story and should be definitely on your visiting check-list (along with St Peter and Paul Orthodox Cathedral, St Anthony Catholic Cathedral and the Muslim Mosque - all of them located in same area)
