Better than expected

We decided to tour this museum just before Navy Day and we liked it more than we thought, particularly the exhibition of model ships and aircraft. We even witnessed the riding of a mock-up submarine in the museum's outside pool, which we really enjoyed. Entrance fee is 10 ron, that is a little over 2 euros.

Definitely worth a visit with or without kids but I wish they would invest a bit in modernizing it
Jul 2018 • Family
The museum offers for a low fee a nice opportunity to see historical and navy related items - kids were especially amazed by the huge lighthouse bulbs exposed.
You can do this visit at your own pace without a guide but could be nice if the museum would have some more modern interactive features.
Also the outside exhibit gardens would need some care and tiding...
Anyway highly recommended for a visit if you are in Constanta.

Worth of seeing
Jan 2018 • Solo
The museum is worth of seeing. The tour is done chronologically on the ground and first floors covering seamanship fro Roman till modern times and covering both army and commercial parts.

The museum is on or slightly above Romanian average with English descriptions. It is not overcrowded by articles and therefore pleasant to tour in 90 minutes. You can see many ship models, guns, torpedos, uniforms, naval devices, etc.

In the yard there are 3 ships on display that are not in the good shape at all - restoration works are really needed. Further you can see there more mines, guns and anchors.

The museum charges absurd photographing fee of 25 while the ticket is just 10.

It's worth a visit for the 2 quid entrance fee.
In my opinion it just seems a little lacking in actual artefacts especially for a national museum.
A good attempt has been made to illustrate the ancient trading history of the region, it's a pity not so many pieces of history survived to display for such a rich heritage.
Some more recent naval artefacts are on display. Pity there are no inter active displays or video presentations.
If you are around pay a visit anyway.

Very interesting museum
Aug 2017 • Family
The museum is chronologically organized and all exhibits are very well taken care of. The visit takes about 30-45 minutes, depending on the interest in naval history and ticket costs 10 lei. It is worth it, as you can see a variety of objects, from carbonized wood pieces of very old ships, to real lighthouse lamps from around Dobrogea. A lot of models of submarines and torpedoes, with open areas to see the insides. Almost all exhibits have information in Romanian, English and French. The Navy Museum in Constanta is closed on Monday and Tuesday and open from Wednesday to Sunday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

There are some interesting exhibits from the roman influence, which shows how long this port has been in exsistance. There is a good display of Naval models and if this is what you came to see, your day is made but I thought the museum part of this rather sparse. there are static displays of naval guns and some gun boats which are in desperate need of renovation and refurbishment. So much mor e could be done with those exhibits. People who go to look at ships, generally want to walk around on them.
