Althou a small space is dedicated to geology and artefacts, you get enough information of the growth over the time of the place that today is Danube Delta. You get to see what peoples of last 500 years were doing in ther backyard with the natural resources. Also there is a quite big aquarium filled with sturgeon fishes. All of them! Also' there, you'll find Nemo! And much more! A comprised natural history museum.

In Tulcea , you will find the museum presenting you a bit from the Danube Delta ... Adults entry ticket - 20 Ron - well spent I have to say - it is definitely worth the visit.
What you will find - lower level the fish tanks- very very interesting - not that much the tropical fishes but the endemic species. (what I was missing was the perch and zander tanks, otherwise a good and accurate representation - with some sarcasm too - check out the pics , you'll understand the reference). The sturgeon tank is the highlight.
At the ground floor a bit of the history of the Delta region.
At the upper level you shall find the recreations of the habitats of the Delta with the animals in those habitats and my favorite section is the part presenting the old trades and dying craft of the people of the Delta ... very very accurate and extremely interesting.
So if you are in Tulcea , think no more ... go and see the Museum of the Danube Delta , before you see the Delta itself , definitely worth it!!

We visited the museum from Tulcea and I was surprised by the small ecosystems very well organised there with the entire fauna and flora of Danube Delta. Useful historical data about the formation of Delta.
I recommend everyone to visit this museum. (Centrul Muzeal Ecoturistic Delta Dunării/ acvariu)

Both live and stuffed animals are portrayed, along with the history of how the Delta was formed is presented in an excellent fashion. Most is in English as well.

Great place to visit before or after a cruise on the Delta. Good orientation to the flora and fauna and their place in the delta ecology. Especially liked the aquarium showing the various fish. Offered to pay the penzionate (senior) price for both of us but was told my husband, on his mobility scooter, was gratuit (free). And there was a lift to take us from floor to floor. Building is accessible but ramp outside to front door is a bit steep.

I was disappointed of the size of the aquarium, but on the second floor there were lots of exhibits of stuffed animals and butterflies, that were nice. It's a place you must visit only if you are passing through the city. It's not worth travelling here just for this. I visited in May 2018 and the entrance fee was 20 lei, which was very much for such a small museum.

This museum has an interesting collection that shows the Danube Delta environment, the way of life of its inhabitants. You can also enjoy a small aquarium.

This museum is fairly small as is the aquarium downstairs. But, it is laid out very nicely and surprisingly informative. Downstairs is a series of fish tanks that you wander around. Some good English signage and up close views of many local fish species as well as some more exotic ones. Upstairs is a very detailed and helpful display of the natural transformation of the landscape over millenia. Not as much English signage here, but the drawings make it clear. Very popular with young children as well. Well worth a visit if you are in Tulcea.
