The Monument was erected as homage to the heroic soldiers who fought to free the country from the Ottoman rule in 1877, when Dobrogea region was brought back to Romania. The Monument itself, which is imposing, the alleys, the Archeology Museum, the ruins of the ancient Aegyssus city - all thwese make a vist worthwhile.
