Visit this "treasures" museum/school/house
May 2021
Visiting "Prima scoala romaneasca" in Brașov has been a highlight of my vacation. It felt as if I traveled back in time, in a wonderful world of Romanian culture and history, beautifully narrated by an excellent and knowledgeable guide, Mr. Ioan. He gave voice to all the old books and other valuable historical elements that the museum is a house to. I enjoyed the fact that it has been an interactive visit - we had to think and answer Mr. Ioan's questions, just like we used to do in school. We became students again, learning about moments, people, events from centuries ago in only a little bit more than an hour.

Must see once least!

It is a small and intimate school, it recreates the atmosphere of the past centuries, besides a true cultural and especially spiritual treasure.
Not only do I recommend a visit there but I consider it absolutely necessary at one of the sources of Romanianness

This visit added value to our Brasov trip. An extraordinary culture lesson taken by a great inspiring character, Drd Ioan. His personality and teaching style makes you wishing to learn more and return to invest in this great place. Is located in the yard of St Nicholas Church, another great attraction point.

A beautiful cultural experience
Sep 2020
One of the most beautiful cultural experiences, recently had. The guide was full of passion and managed to simultaneously interact with both adults and children. It’s a place that definitely has to be visited once you are in Brasov

More than books and artefacts
Aug 2020
We came to see the precious books, documents and paintings, but we were welcomed by our teacher for the day and happily joined a wonderful tour through the museum. We were listening to stories from the past, thinking about questions you need to ask yourself at least once in life and yes, we got to see lovely rare books, too.

This is a very special and friendly place and if you engage in the class you will understand the importance of the past for the life today.
The museum is love for the Romanian culture, for humanistic education, for doubts and for discussions.
English was no problem, plan more time than you think, and be on time :)

Important

Important part of Brasov and Romania's history, since this is a place where the first school with teachings in Romanian language was founded. Lovely architecture of the place.

A nice informative stop in a lovely town whether you are Romanian or not.

While touring Brasov, we visited this very old school with a very historic past. It was the first Romanian school in this country just as the name implies. What made our visit special was the very interesting presentation given to us by the local. First as we sat in the seats of a very small but quaint classroom, listening took us back in time as to feel what it may have been like for those first students many many years ago. The other thing of interest was the printing press in another room that was talked about with knowledgeable information by the same local presenter. This would be especially interesting to teachers traveling to the area.
