Medieval structure with a nice courtyard and beautiful view from the outside walls. Inside the museum you will find cute single-player activities including a VR archery range and puzzles. Definitely worth the small entrance fee.

The Weavers Bastion or Bastionul Țesătorilor is a fairly well-preserved fortress from the 15th century. It is now home to a medieval museum. This is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, admission costs 10 LEI.

Why, when a narrow street is listed at number 8 on attractions in this city on tripadvisor , is a substantial small fort not even on the list? Well it is now. It is 200 metres from Schei Gate, right next to the stadium across from this is a tennis court, and behind it the Weavers Bastion. The bastion was built in two phases between 1421-1436 and 1570-1573. Part of it collapsed in 1701, thus it was reconstructed in 1750 and restored in 1910. Externally like other round fortress towers although a little larger, internally it is quite impressive with the tiered wooden storage rooms used to good effect to withstand sieges. Entrance fee of 7 lei fine, asking a further 20 to use a camera is a bit cheeky for this site.

the building floor is not really even but that adds to the charm, along with old rickety stairs. visit to the bastion is free, but to enter the brasov history museum onsite, it costs 7 RON

After you finished the traditional Black Church - Council Square -Rope Street visit, start to look for something interesting! This is the only bastion you can visit and offers a lot of info on the history of Brașov. Inside a small museum with lot of details about Brașov!
Affordable prices, you can park nearby!

Part of the old defense system of the city, this medium-sized fortification is in original shape and located in the foothold of the Tampa hill, which makes it even more mesmerizing place.

Although this is not large, it tells history in a concise topographic map. A walk back in time at this well kept secret.

We paid 7 lei each to a rude member of staff for a view of an interesting courtyard and one room museum with a dusty model of the old walled city. Quite cheap, but 25 lei per camera if you want to take photos. So much potential wasted. When you consider that it costs 30 lei in Bucharest to take photographs of the Palace of the Parliament and the Cotroceni Palace you will realise that this is a rip off. One of the most disappointing museums in the last 17 months of travel.

I just loved my visit to the wonderfully preserved Weaver's Bastion, part of the vast medieval fortification network below Tampa Mountain designed to protect the city of Brasov.
This without a doubt, is the most spectacular and best preserved illustration of defensive architecture in Medieval Brasov.
Built between 1421 – 1432, and extended between 1570 – 1573, this is definitely a must to visit, particularly if you're interested in history, or have a vivid imagination!
The Guild of Linen Weavers were in charge of this bastion which protected the south-west fortifications of Brasov at the foot of Tampa Hill.
Its walls which are 4.3 metres thick at the base are pierced with simple or reversed key-hole shaped shooting windows, corresponding to the three interior rows of galleries for musketeers.
The entrance is protected by a gate tower and facing Tampa Hill there are two small watch towers. Climbing the slope from the bastion, there was once a wall which would have separated the cattle yard protected by the Cutler's Tower located further uphill.
In 1800, a hall for festivities was built in the courtyard and in 1950, this room was converted into the fortification museum.
Inside the museum there are a number of interesting medieval artefacts and also a scaled model of the entire fortification system in miniature which gives you a clear view of just how vast the system really was.
Entrance to the bastion is only 7 Leu but if you want to take photos an extra charge of 20 leu is required.
The lady seemed embarrassed, even apologetic at taking my money but she needn't have been. Many like attractions were charging extra for this facility
designed to encourage tourists to buy leaflets and books and to help with the upkeep and running costs which to me is acceptable.
But if you do visit, my advice? Pay the extra because the photo opportunity is well worth it.
Happy holidays!

This place is a shame on the Brasov's administration.
Bastionul Ţesătorilor (Weavers' Bastion) is one of the most important historical monuments in the city, and until 15-20 years ago, it was also one of the best preserved.
Unfortunately, for years, public funds have been wasted, leaving the historical monuments (bastions and defense towers of the city) to decay. The pictures you see on promotional sites date from when the building was well-maintained.
My opinion was that, in a few years, if no action is taken, only the bastion's walls will remain. The wooden stairs and decks, once used by soldiers, are deteriorating and nearly dismantled, making much of the upper galleries inaccessible.
The lady selling tickets does just that – she sells tickets. Don’t expect to get any information from her.
While the city model is very interesting, the attached electronic tablets are almost non-functional, making it difficult to learn about the historical buildings presented.
A mini-documentary about the fire that devastated the city center a few centuries ago plays on a screen above the model. Although interesting, it is very short (less than 10 minutes) and repeats continuously, becoming unbearable after a while.
The collection of medieval weapons has remained unchanged for about 20 years, as the museum administrators have not bothered to bring in some new exhibits.
Overall, the bastion, instead of being a real tourist attraction, is merely a reflection of the authorities' incompetence and negligence.
