What can you get with less than 50 cents (Euro) these days? Not a lot, so it really is nothing to get a great view over the square and of Sibiu itself. The stairway is narrow and steep, but then it is an old building. If you can climb up the stairs just splash out, nothing to lose. As you go up you will pass a number of rooms in which they may have exhibitions - on my visit some local artists were busy setting up - very effective and interesting installations. Before reaching the highest platform one passes by the bells.

The Council Tower is one of the symbols of Sibiu.
Initially having the function of defense tower, it partially collapsed in 1585, following an earthquake. The ground floor and the first two floors belong today to the original construction of the century. XIII.The present form of the tower is: reconstruction executed between the years 1824-1826.

A cool tower in the middle of the Old Town with great views of the city. the climb is not easy (very tight stairs and no opening (no AC, no opened windows - so not easy to breath). The views from the top are great but they are thru tiny windows, but it worth the climb.

For only 2 lei we had a breathtaking view over the whole town. We had a stroll around the main attractions first and went up there as our last sightseeing stop. Therefore we knew what we where overlooking. Perfect ending of the exploration!
There was an “exposition” too which was quite nice.

It's located between Piata Mare and Piata Mica and it's a must see in Sibiu. It's worth climbing the stairs and get to the top. The view of the town is magnificent from there.

"Turnul Sfatului" completes the historical downtown of Sibiu with his ancient silhouette. It is 800 years old and at the ground-floor is a passage between Small Square and Big Square. The tower is not just old, but it is also full of history and allows a beautiful panorama over Sibiu. At the first floor we saw an photo exhibition showing the work of a group of enthusiastic volunteers who re-build a narrow rail road. and at one of the upper stores we could see the watch mechanism. The family of the lady who sell the visiting tickets was really great: they were very friendly with our kids, even sharing chocolate biscuits with them :)
I really recommend to make a visit of the tower. You will spend a pleasant and informing time here. We spent less than a hour here, but you may easily stay longer if you have time: our boy was just 3.5 years old and we had to go out faster to put him at sleep.

Good views to be had from this tower in the centre of gorgeous Sibiu. The climb is fairly short in contrast to many towers, & for the most part is via a comparatively wide wooden staircase. Ample breather platforms on the way up too. The top level isn’t open to the elements, so you’re capturing your pics through one of four windows. Worthwhile though, & only 2 lei.

TIP :
Start you visit with this tower it's the cheapest guide, it explains the main attractions.
Nice walk along the stairs, there's no elevator but the number of stairs is decent, plus once every 20 steps there's a picture gallery of either drawings, paintings, sketches photographs of Sibiu.
Also we find a Swiss 1474 clock the second of it's tower kind in Romania.
You have the written history on the seventh flour of the Tower, from where it draws it's name and the explained photographs of what you see in the top flour panorama.
Very cheap entrance fee, you pay on your way out. Just 2 lei, about 0.40 euro cents.
Worth every coin!

Dominant architectural piece in the city, overlooking the town centre and the main square. Not too much details though.
