Nice quite place to spend 1-2 hour with the kids, at the entrance you can hire electrical bike and let your kids ride across the park (or bring your own bike, since there is a lot of walking) , there are traditional houses, churches windmills & Lake, You get exposed to different old technics used in the past for daily... As much as I admire this place, I would rather see the real houses in their natural setting. You need a long time to see the place and there is a lot of walking to be done. The houses tend to repeat, but you can hear live Romanian music at some spots.Very peaceful.Take water with you :)

I visited the open air Astra Museum in Dumbrava Sibiului and I was very impressed. It was just beautiful! Lovely traditional romanian houses set in a beautiful, green enviroment.

We took a cab (for just about 4/5 euros) to this delightful museum. it's a wonderful place to spend half a day - or being a book and find a spot in the sun and spend the whole day here. The buildings are amazing to see. My two tips would be: 1. Eat in the tavern there. The food, service... More

Perfect day to visit on a Saturday mid day it's amazing how beautiful and the care the people from Sibiu have demonstrated to keep there arts, traditions, culture, music and food. We enjoyed chatting to the crafts men & women who were so generous with their time and so passionate about Romanian culture. A definite must do!

I just loved this museum, it's amazing for people who love to discover new things about past decades and areas and also to have a walk in the forest. The entrances is not that much, but it's even better for kids going to school or students, and also people in retirement. It's the biggest museum of this type in Europe... More

We hired bikes from Sibiu centre (15 Lei for 24h or 4lei/hr) and took the cycle path that runs all the way. It's a relaxing cycle and when you get there it's a lovely walk around the site too. There are traditional houses, churches windmills to explore and a lake to walk around too. We also stopped for lunch there... More

My favorite was the windmills. We saw a lot of families enjoying this outdoor museum and saw wedding pictures going on as it was a Saturday. Nice walking paths.

It's a walk back into the Romania of yonder years, with its old windmills, carts and of course, village houses. One or two of the houses are open for walking into so that we get an exact feel of how people used to live alongwith their domesticated animals in these abodes. The hour-long walk all around the lake, while viewing... More
