A great museum

You must see it. It is the second best air based museum in Europe. The atmosphere is great, the curatorial ideas are great, the tickets are very cheap, around 8-10 euro/ person.

The Romanian cultural association ASTRA decided in 1897 to establish a museum of Romanian civilization as a "shelter for keeping the past".

When we arrived it was pretty much empty and all the exhibits were closed so we couldn't get the full experience and the lack of English meant we understood even less of what we were looking at. Maybe summer time is a better time to enjoy the museum. It was easy to get to and entrance fee was cheap.

If you have sufficient time whilst visiting Sibiu this open air museum is well worth a visit. Was a little hard to find, but once there the museum provided a nice walking trail through buildings and dwellings of varying Romanian cultures.

It a definite must see while in Sibiu. It is a large and well kept open air museum which offers a look into Romanian households throughout the country from decades ago. Even though I am almost in my 30s I could not help but feel nostalgic when seeing some of the rural houses and 'technologies' used to carry out daily... More

We only got to see the outside of the houses but i really liked this place. It's like a big park where you can also see interesting stuff. The mills where particularly interesting.

Wonderful place....interesting history here. We spent several hours wandering around the complex. The park itself is beautiful.

Spent several hours walking around this park. A must for the photographer! There is also a nice little restaurant with both indoor and outdoor serving. Old windmills, houses in traditional styles, wagons, etc.
