You must visit when in Varna even just to see the wonderful windows, carvings and paintings. They are doing some restoration but it did not detract from its beauty. Nice to sit and think for a while away from the boom of the holiday season. Even small children sat just looking at the paintings peacefully.

Located in the center of the city, can't miss it. Definitely worth a short visit, but the templon separating the nave from the sanctuary is relatively close to the entrance, so there isn't much to explore. A great example of orthodox architecture, but I was expecting something more...

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin/Varna Cathedral is located on a busy main thoroughfare in Varna. To cross the street, we had to use an underground tunnel which had a few beggars asking for handouts. The church is impressive from the exterior with a cleaned beige facade and gold covered domes giving a unified outer appearance. The stone... More

Situated in the center of Varna, build in 1880, this is a Christian church with very beautiful frescoes and icons. The decoration of patriarchal throne and iconostases is a real masterpiece of wood-carving. Here you can see a copy of the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary-Gerontisa, the original is in the Athos monastery.

This is the second large orthodox church after sofia in Bulgaria. very worth the visit if you are in the area. you will experience most locals praying and kissing before leaving the cathedral but it´s part of the culture and it´an experience in it´s self

A big and impressive cathedral. Like most cathedrals it has great architecture and stained windows. It is located right smack in the middle of the city, so it's pretty easy to visit with a taxi or bus.

every person who visited Varna must shoot or to enter the Cathedral "St. Assumption" of the center. Majestic old building, a landmark for the city.

An older cathedral with the usual murals. The area around the cathedral is quite run down though. Access is easy.
