An ancient stadium 250m long and holding 30,000 people was built in Plovdiv by the Romans. Only parts of it are visible, some in the basements of shops and one of the main entrances, the rest is buried under the Main Street, do not miss...More

Its such a shame that what remains today is hardly a stadium. The miniature 3D model looks grand, so one can imagine what the stadium was in the year 172. excellent aqueducts that work even today.

Beautiful view of the stadium as you walk up the main shopping street. There was a Bulgarian play on whilst we were there. When there are no shows on you can walk around freely and also enjoy the 3D Tour of what the Roman Stadium...More

On the main shopping street, it has a fascinating history. There is a peaceful cafe to sit amongst the ruins, and there is a 3 D film show as well.

This amazing stadium is situated in the city centre under the main street. It is very well preserved and there is a model to view which shows the original full size of the stadium, which apparently could seat 30,000 back in the day. It was...More

Currently only the entrance to the stadium is visible with the rest of the site under the bustling main shopping street of Plovdiv. It appears that plans have already started to excavate under the ground to reveal more of the stadium as an under ground...More

The fact that this site has been restored and is protected and in plain view from the main shopping areas is just wonderful. Amazing history, fabulously displayed and free to enter! The 3D movie wasnt running as we were only three people and it needs...More

Underneath today's Plovdiv is buried the ancient city...This is what you find throughout your excursions in the City itself....It most recently has been voted the Cultural City of Europe. The celebration is throughout this week...
