Amazing spot and a beautiful view. Unfortunately only a small bit has been restored which is a shame. However that's a must do in Plovdiv.

Only a small section remains of this massive stadium, it would have seated 30,000 people in its time. They would have raced horses/ chariots there. It's a terrible shame it was built on top of and the small bit that is uncovered cannot give you the full impact of the size. There is an info sign on site and you can view it freely. They have a 3d show to explain how it would have looked that you can pay to see.

I think that there are not many important cities in the balkan peninsula that the Romans didn't leave their trace and obviously Philippoupolis couldn't differ. Well preserved, gives you an idea of the hippodrome and travels you back in time.
