The statue remember the Soviet-Bulgarian friendship and it is located on top of one of the Plovdiv's hills. From there you have a nice view of the city at the sunset. No car nor public transports reach the statue; expect to walk 10-15 minutes along...More

I found this hill to offer great views of Plovdiv. Alyosha is a nice statue, but go for the view, and yes it is a bit of a climb, not too hard

From this place you can see great view but this is little shame for Plovdiv on top is Alyosha who dont have nothing history with Bulgaria but down in park is a little memorial of biggest Bulgarian person in history Vasil Levski. Not bad place...More

Megalomaniac commemoration for the Soviet hegemony over Bulgaria. Little art value and zero historical reasons to exist. Didn't fancy it.

We have done this walk many times. It’s nice taking the steady climb to the top of the hill as the view from the top is great where you can view the whole of Plovdiv. There are several ways up and down, enjoy.

If you have enough time, it totaly worth to go there. The walk is nice - not too hard. Actually there are two ways to go to the top - one shorter but steepen and one longer and sloping. The view from the top is...More

We really enjoyed the walk up to the hill. When you reach the top, you can ser the Aleksandar II monument and the statue of the communist soldier. And of course, you have a stunning city overview.
