Saturday 11th June and we were booked on the All Day Mostar Tour. Although we booked the tour through a TUI Rep at our hotel, Tui Blue Kalamato on Kolocep, the Tour Operator was Gullivers Travels.
One of the features of the Tour was guided tour of the Old Town with a local Guide, this service was provided by Fortuna Tours.
We arrived in Mostar at around 11.00 where we met our Guide who was waiting for us. We moved a way from the coach park, we stopped in a shaded area. It was here our Guide introduced himself to us, there was only 8 of us, apologies can't remember his name, he did inform us that his nickname was Dado. He welcomed us to Mostar and gave us details of the tour. He advised us to wear backpacks on our chests as there were a number of pickpockets about, he identified some as they approached. Thankfully no-one in our group was robbed.
We visited the delightful small Hadji Kurt Mosque (Tabacica). We then made our way to Stari Most (Old Bridge) where we watched the divers, Dado ensured we got a good vantage point
The final stop was at Kajtaz House, superb preserved example of an Ottoman House, we also tasted some Turkish coffee here.
Along the way other points of interest were pointed out to us, the Crooked Bridge, Mostar Peace Bell Tower and the site where the Synagogue is due to be built. He also pointed out the way down to the beach under the Old Bridge. We also visited a jewellery shop, with plenty to see.
The tour lasted about ninety minutes, it was full of historical, social and useful information. There were some humorous elements as was well. Throughout the tour our guide was concerned for our safety and kept an eye our for the pickpockets operating in the busy tourist areas.
Before he left us, Dado gave us directions to places he thought might be of interest.
