The square ends in the stairs to the river. Here you can get to the boats that cross the river and you can see the russian fleet.

From this site the Russian anti-communist white army departed for Constantinople in 1920. There is a small black plaque commemorating this on the white wall. It's a quiet romantic place where you can stand and watch the water, as the numerous stray cats and kitties...More
