The first picture of this review it’s not correct because it’s depicting the near Mosque Xhamia and Carshie.
This beautiful Mosque was built in 1461 by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror
The exterior is characterized by a Portico with very nice frescoes
The internal is more elevated than the others Mosques I saw in Pristina with a beautiful chandelier and a frescoed dome

Old Prishtina has been gutted with modern renovations and new buildings, destroying most of the old city... Tragic loss of culture, architecture, tradition, atmosphere... This mosque is among the rare exceptions to this tragic pattern of destruction of history.

The Fatih Mosque was built early in the Ottoman period in the old part of Pristina, and restored in 2010 by the Turkish govt. It's surprisingly small, but very attractive. The Imam invited me in to take a couple of photos. Unfortunately, I spoke French and he spoke German, so we had to communicate with gestures.

I met a nice Kosovo guy here at the mosque who introduced himself and was curious why I was in Pristina. We chatted for 5-10 minutes about religion and in particular Islam. I found it interesting discussing the welcoming and tolerant nature of Muslims, whilst all around the city there is clear evidence of tension. Its a unique city Pristina and Kosovo in general. I'm glad I visited this mosque, still being restored, and met this guy as it was a genuinely interesting and enlightening conversation

I took a walking tour in Pristina and was told that tourists can visit the mosque, and that there would be scarfs available to cover yourself up etc. When I arrived, however, it was made very clear by some men at the front door that I am not welcomed there. I took a quick look from the door and left. The mosque and the surroundings were nice though.

Fatih Mosque was the open to prayers. The old man of the faith sat around the garden waiting for the prayers. The Muezzin asked us to enter and asked where we were from. The garden was peaceful.

The Fatih Mosque was built in 1461, eight years after the collapse of Constantinople. It was built during the rule of Sultan Mehmet II al-Fatih – also known as the Conqueror, and hence the mosque took his name. It is located in the old part of Prishtina town and it is the biggest and most important mosque. Inside, painted floral decorations and arabesques grace the walls and ceiling. Its cupola was once the biggest in the region.
