The tour was awesome, the place itself is beautiful. The hop on hop off has few stops and the pick up is every 30 to 40 minutes -Perasta amazing-.
Kudos to Natasha our tour guide, the driver as well as all the team, everything was organized, on time and worth your money.

We were visiting Kotor from the United States.

The company was flawless. The staff was incredible and very clear with instructions. They were very thorough with detailing what you got with each ticket and what was on each stop.

When you get on the bus you can hop off at any stop the next bus will be there within 15 minutes. Each stop has history which comes clearly through headphones they give you.

The staff member who ran the tour on the bus was also amazing. She was informative and efficient in how she described everything.

The company exceeded expectations, and my mother went on another trip and had a similarly amazing experience.

Would use this company anywhere they are in the world!

Very nice sightseeing tour around the fiord area of Kotor. Open bus is perfect to see the mountains and the seaside at the same time. Kudos to my driver Balić and Nikolas who drove me directly to my family in no time, and make me discover the Montegrenin beer. Thanks for the amazing experience! Big Spain

The views from the bus were amazing and the staff are very friendly but I was very disappointed with this tour. It’s terrible value for money. It cost €25 and if you’re not part of a cruise, you can only buy the ticket online as their office is within the cruise port which is a restricted area. When I got on the bus, I grabbed a leaflet only to see that the Risan stop is crossed out - apparently they don’t stop there anymore? It’s still on the website and when I was emailing staff about the tour, no one said that it was now one stop less? So now, there are only 2 stops, Perast and Bajova Kula beach. There is nothing at Bajova Kula except the beach, so I didn’t get off here. So, I basically paid €25 for a return bus ticket to Perast. When I tried to get the bus back from Perast, I was told that the bus was every 30 minutes, they aren’t. They just show up whenever. Honestly, this was such a rip off and I was not impressed at all, if this was a little cheaper, then fine, but €25 was a lot for two stops. The audio guide also kept skipping. Instead of doing this bus tour, walk down by old gate and find Miki Travel who offer a 2.5h boat trip out to Perast and Our Lady of the Rocks for €15, much better value!

Firstly, we had been on the most wonderful hop on-hop off bus in Malta the day before, so when we saw the cute open top bus in this port, we were so excited even though the cost was EXTREMELY steep at 20 Euros each. That was where the dream turned into a nightmare. I wish I could give it a negative rating.

There were plenty of representatives trying to get people onto the bus, but that was where their enthusiasm stopped. We arrived around 9:10 and were told that the first bus left at 9:30 even though the brochure said 9AM. So we wandered around the old town for a few minutes and returned at 9:30. At 9:45 we were told that we were the only people who had purchased tickets and that we were going to have to wait until it was fuller and could leave at 10:00. We considered asking for our money back at that time, but decided to stick it out (in hindsight that was our mistake). At 10:15 they begrudgingly started the tour with about 12 people.

The first 5 minutes of the tour was driving in a big circle and picking up 4 more guests. Finally we were on our way. It was a pleasant drive and good information on the pre-recorded narrative (even though my husbands head phone jack was not working). We passed directly through all stops thinking that they were going to stop on the way back.

The first stop was the furthest away at the roman mosaics. We were not really offered the opportunity to "hop off" and catch the next bus, rather, they said they would just wait 10 minutes for us. 10 minutes was more than enough time however there was no WC at this stop.

The next stop was Perast. They drop you off in the parking lot, so at first glance you think that the only thing to do is go to the islands with the churches (there were many water taxi's waiting to transport you). Yet there is a charming town just beyond the bus stop. The guide on the bus told us that we should get off and that the next bus would be coming through at 11:30. We inquired if we could stay longer but she made it clear that NO other buses would be running that day because the weather looked cloudy (not sure why that would affect the bus schedule). So we were a bit disappointed because a half hour was not even enough time to walk to the other side of the boardwalk and back. We could not stop for lunch, we could not visit the church islands. We scurried back to the bus stop arriving exactly at 11:25 with the others from our bus.

That was when the waiting began. We waited and waited. Finally at around 11:55 one of the other bus patrons asked the gate operator to call and inquire about the tour bus. They told us it would be there in 10 minutes. In about 15 minutes a bus finally came. However, to all of our shock, it was a full bus filled with other hop on hop off patrons none of whom were instructed to get off the bus. Therefore, there was no room on that bus for us. We asked the bus driver and the guide about that next bus and they told us that they would be sending a special bus for us and it would be another 10 minutes. At 12:45 that smaller bus finally arrived with the explanation that their was bad traffic.

All of us were very disgruntled because instead of spending time in the beautiful town, we were strung along and made to wait in the parking lot for over 1.15 hrs. The bus did offer to stop at the other stops, but none of the patrons trusted that we would be picked up, so there was no more hopping off. It never rained. We all agreed that we would speak with the manager when we got back.

Well, that was an utter disaster. Instead of apologizing and offering us a refund.... THEY got mad at us!!! They started YELLING at us in the public square. The manager was very defensive and said "What's your problem?" He had the attitude that we got back, so we completed the tour. He condescendingly offered to buy us coffee and get to know us instead of giving us any partial refund.

This was the worse customer service experience ever. Kotor was a beautiful place but this experience completely ruined this port for us.

My partner and I took a gamble and were persuaded to take the Kotor Open Top Bus around on our visit to Montenegro. Big mistake! Allegedly 4 stops but 1 stop was a beach (Bajova Kula) which was "under construction" at time so not available. Another stop was waling tour of Kotor (see below). We were taken to Risan for Roman Mosaics - ok but sparse, nowhere near comparable to Paphos and bit disconcerting to see a carpet rolled up at site!!!! We got off at Perast (seems worth a visit for food), lovely scenic backdrop and inexpensive drinks - but were told that a bus would be there at 2pm. No bus appeared at all and we were stranded at Perast with a nother party. Saved by a taxi driver who stopped twice and contacted Tour company who sent a white van out for us about 3.15pm. On return to Kotor - all sales staff for Open Tour had scarpered and company office shut! Bang went our "guided walking tour" !!!! Big shout to Tourist information staff who contacted company on our behalf and made refund of half of cost - told us that this was not an isolated incident! Apparently an unofficial tour company and in our experience, not one to be trusted. Kotor itself was lovely, wouldn't recommend OpenTour to anyone

When getting off the cruise ships, the Kotor Open Tour office is behind the red and gold Welcome to Kotor sign. Credit cards and currency accepted. After you leave the office the dock gates are to your left. Once you pass the dock gates the bus is about at 10 o clock position. The fortress wall will be at 12 o clock position. The market is behind the fortress wall. One has to cross a two way busy street with no pedestrian crosswalk or lights.
Stops included Risan Roman Mosaics, beach, Perast and the Old Town/market.
Risan Roman Mosaics: Come visit with an open mind to have a hands-on experience with the mosaics. It's sparse when compared to Ravenna, etc... but at least one can touch the mosaics
The beach, was not appealing.
Perast: The Ugly. The driver dropped us off at the bottom of the hill which was the entry way to the downtown and the tour guide gave specific instructions to wait for the bus where we were dropped off. We were informed that the bus that will take us back to the cruise ships will come every half an hour. We waited for hour and 15 minutes and no bus came. We were saved by the locals who called their friends who knew the folks who drove the bus and got the message through. We were then informed by the locals to walk up the hill to catch the bus. The bus came within 5 minutes.
The Good: From the bottom of the hill, one can access the islet of Our Lady of the Rocks via small boat tours. Caveat: choose a Fjord-worthy vessel.
For US $20, it's an inexpensive way to view Kotor Bay in an air conditioned bus,
and best seats are on the left side of the bus when leaving from the dock.
Happy travels.

I think the previous reviewer is writing about a different experience. This review is for the Kotor Open Tour, the large open top buses that run between Kotor and Perast in the summer months. I cannot recommend this tour for the following reasons.

The tour is advertised as "hop on hop off", which everywhere else in Europe means that you can leave the bus at any point and spend some time in one of the destinations, then catch a later bus to move to the next point. While we were allowed to spend some extra time in Perast, we were given only 10 minutes in Risan, which was extremely disappointing (barely enough to see the mosaics).

Furthermore, our bus did not stop at Bajova kula on the return to Kotor so we missed one of the stops we paid for. Again, we were extremely disappointed. No explanation was offered.

Most upsetting was that we were not able to take the walking tour of Kotor Old Town. The brochure states that tours are offered at 1.00 pm, 5.00 pm and 8.00 pm daily. We waited at the main town entrance at 8.00pm but no guide appeared and we could not participate in the walking tour. Again, we were extremely disappointed as the walking tour was one of the main reasons we chose to buy a ticket.

The charge of 20 Euro is extremely high for the tour and that amount is completely unreasonable if one does not receive most of the services advertised. To repeat, our tour was not "hop on hop off", one of the stops was missed and we did not have a walking tour.

I know that the Open Tour is relatively new and may be experiencing some problems in its early stages. Hopefully they will improve the service next summer but for now I have no choice but to warn visitors to Kotor away from this overpriced and disappointing service.

On a one day cruise visit with little time to see all the sights, the hop-on hop-off bus tour came to our rescue with a good value, efficient trip along the bay that left us plenty of time to see the church, Perast and get back for an afternoon walking the Old Town.

As you leave the ship this tour appears to be the only one allowed inside the gates, and so they get to you first and sign you up. Outside there are cheaper tours and taxis, but we were happy with the service here.

First stop was the Roman mosaics, interesting, but probably something we'd have been happy to skip. However the rushed 15 minute stop was about all we needed so it didn't interfere with our plans.

Stop 2 was Perast, and advice that we could get a discount on a boat to the island if we showed our tickets proved correct. We went with the first person to approach us, were dropped at the island and then half an hour or so later were taken back to the town.

The buses allegedly come by every half hour or so. It's hard to judge this as we only waited 15 minutes for ours after the boat to the island, but at the next stop there was a crowd of very distressed cruise passengers on a 4 hour visit who had been waiting for some time, were afraid they would miss their ship, and then could not all fit on the bus. However the tour guide apologised and quickly ordered up another bus.

Tips: Make sure you don't cut it too fine as the buses may not be right on schedule. So, do this first thing, then walk the city later. If time is very short and you just want to go out to the island, maybe get a cab. Also, try to get a seat on the left hand side as you head out - some of the views on the road out to Perast were stunning and the open top bus allowed for great pictures.

This was very good value, worked well for us, and the multilingual recording provided good advice and information along the way.

First departure at 9 am, last departure at 5 pm. Every 20 to 30 minutes there is a new bus, audio guide on board, tickets for 2 museums in Risan and Perast and a guided Kotor walking tour at €20 p.p. Sounded great, It turned into a disaster.
We boarded the bus at 9.20, the first stop was at a museum for 10 minutes in Risan where the bus waited for us all, few mosaics to be seen, not worth it. The second stop was in Perast for the museum and a walk, the bus didn't wait and we were promised a bus at least every 30 minutes. After 30 minutes we returned: no bus, after a wait of over 30 minutes in the pouring rain, still no bus. We finally got on a local bus for €1 p.p. that took us back to Kotor. At approx. 11.45 we were back in Kotor to complain at the office where we had bought our tickets. IT WAS CLOSED for the rest of the day. The walking tour that was supposed to start at the main town entrance at 12 pm turned out into a no show of the guide.
I am now writing a letter of complaint to the organisation but I don't expect to hear anything considering the way we experienced the mode of operation of this organisation.
Prospective tourists: don't go along with them. You'd better walk around on your own or take a private taxi with 2 other people. More value for money that way.
