Kotor, Montenegro is an amazing place to visit. Luca, our guide was fantastic. He was extremely informative about the area, also a funny man with good humor. We only had limited time in Kotor, we ported at around 7am and had to be back on ship by 2pm Luca was very reassuring on our time available at each area and still giving us plenty of free time to explore the different areas ourselves. Thoroughly enjoyed the area of Budva, the old gated area with little streets and great photo opportunities looking over the bay and old buildings. The landscape of Kotor is breathtaking.

Montenegro airlines set the tone and we were quickly whisked to our gulet moored in Kotor Our well appointed cabin was roomy, though the lighting was a bit dismal-a small moan as we were soon at the bar prior to a good first night meal. We relaxed almost immediately and were delighted to be sharing the gulet with like minded folk .Weather prevented us from sticking to the proposed itinerary but who cares? We were on holiday and saw all we expected though in a rather bizarre order. Kotor is wonderful, also Perast, everywhere interesting and we had several magnificent meals ashore.(Take a decent guide book with you). Don't always rely on local recommendations . Food on board was OK especially if you like eggs!! Great crew, great company, great holiday. No need to dress up, plenty of swims and sightseeing, one of the best. Montenegro is like the beautiful country Greece once was. Go now!

Dear Sparrow Thank you for the review. Unfortunately, we are not the agency that you mentioned in your review. Apparently, there is another company under a similar name out there which is not listed on TripAdvisor yet and we do not want to take credit for their services (good or bad). We do not have a gulet boat and we do not offer those kind of boat tours. We are a team of professionals who specialize in private car/minivan tours along the shore of Montenegro. It would help us a lot if you could contact TripAdvisor and move this review to this other agency where it belongs to. Your action is much appreciated. Thank you in advance! Kind regards, Nikola

There are no words to express the beauty of Montenegro. Luka, one of the owners of the tour company, asked us if we would like to spend a day touring with him when we were walking from our Cruise Ship to walk around the town of Budva. We were uncertain as this was not a tour provided by our cruise ship. Luka's English is excellent, his car is very nice and I had a good feeling immediately. It was the best decision we made of the entire cruise. The day we spent with Luka was amazing beyond words. We will go back and we will book our trip thru him. We saw as many beautiful, breathtaking locations we could see in the time allotted. I did not want to return to the ship...I wanted to stay. He took pictures of us at off the road spots with our I-Phones. One of these pictures will becanvased in our home. He told the history of this secret location to us in detail. The beauty of this island can only be matched by Kauii. We were supposed to go to Turkey but it was removed from our itinerary due to terrorist activities. We were apprehensive and this ended up to be the hi-lite of our trip. The pictures posted on their website are beautiful but to experience this in person is breathtaking. Luka was so proud to share his Country with us and we understand why. Thank you Luka for providing us memories of a lifetime. We hope to see you in the near future. Look for Luka if you are cruising and arrive at port!!!!

gulet cruise, lovely route , if not the one we were expecting. in fact we were not on the boat we were expecting, boat had a fair amount of problem mainly affacting other people on the trip. but its not that difficult to fix a cabin door so it will close. the boat was showing it was at the end of a long season.
customer services very poor when we got back , we were not complaining , just pointing out that sale details were misleading via secret escape web site when read with there web site , but clearly all the customers fault. never mind plenty of other companies to visit montenegro with. i would recommend checking every datail before you go , food fairly basic on the boat, and find your own resaraunt at the ports not all the recomendations are that good.

I used this travel agency to arrange a local tour whilst on a cruise stopping in Kotor ( Montenegro) with my husband.
Booking was really easy via their website and they responded quickly to our query.
We booked the trip which included Lovcen and Crnojevic River which was fantastic. Luka stopped at several viewpoints to allow us to take photos and take in the stunning views.
The views from Lovcen were even more spectacular and the greenery and surroundings of the mountains of Montenegro simply breathtaking.
Our guide, Luka, took us to a traditional restaurant near Cetinje for lunch. The food in this region is mouth watering.
Luka spoke fantastic English and was able to tell us lots about the local history. The excursion was in a people carrier and this was extremely comfortable with leather seats and air-con - a must in the searing summer heat!

They had lots of different excursions on their website - if only we’d had more time!
I’d definitely recommend the guide and this company- it was excellent value for money.

We booked the gulet holiday called Jewels of the Adriatic through Secret Escapes. The outbound flight from Gatwick was delayed which meant that instead of arriving at Tivat airport - about a ten minute dive from the boat - we landed at Podgorica and had a 2 hour journey by coach to get to Tivat. Once we got on the boat we had a brief welcome meeting and instructions about the boat and then were served with a lovely three course dinner. The boat has six cabins for 12 people. The cabins and shower rooms are tiny but there is ample seating up on deck for everyone to be comfortable. Unfortunately the published itinerary couldn't be completed because the open seas were too rough and our captain, Tripo, was concerned for our safety. Instead we spent a fantastic week in the calm and sheltered Bay of Kotor, visiting lovely little towns and beautiful sheltered bays where we could swim, kayak and fish if we wanted. The food on board was amazing. We couldn't believe how the cook, Dragana, managed to produce fantastic breakfasts and lunches for 11 people in a very small galley. She even made a surprise birthday cake for one of the guests. All three of the crew - Tripo the captain, Dragana the cook and cleaner and Namanya the captain's mate, the waiter and the barman - were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I would thoroughly recommend this great experience in such a beautiful place.

We arrived into the Port of Kotor on Thursday 15th August. We were immediately greeted by this friendly young guy named Bojan. He was promising a wonderful private tour of the local area (personal driver, free time to explore and air conditioning in the car) We felt quite targeted as young tourists just off a cruise ship, as when we asked for a few minutes to think about it, he tried to charm us by showing us panoramic pictures and informing us that the driver is not a creepy old man.

When we agreed to take the tour with Explore Montenegro, Bojan rang his driver Sergei and we were told that the car would arrive in less than 5 minutes. While we waited, Bojan made small talk, asking our ages and where we were came from. The car arrived quite promptly, however there was no communication between Bojan and the driver about the service that was to be provided. Initially this didn't seem strange as we assumed Sergei had given this tour many times.

Bojan also claimed the driver Sergei was funny and had very good English. He would also give us detailed commentary as we drove through and past the local tourist sites. Sergei spoke broken English and his only fact about Kotor and the surrounding area was that "this is fish farm". When we asked what was on Queen's Rock he simply replied "Church"

We were informed that payment would be taken at the end and that we would not have to pay the full amount unless we were completely satisfied. We assumed we would pay Bojan who would be waiting outside the ship when our tour finished but instead the driver dropped us by the old town and demanded that we pay up there and then. When we explained that we didn't have any cash on us and that we would pay Bojan before we got back on board the ship, as agreed, Sergei told us to get back into his car so that he could drive us to an ATM. We were not 100% satisfied with the tour so we decided to pay €30 each (instead of €40). Sergei counted the money and then called us back to his car where we had a lengthy and frustrating conversation with Bojan over the phone. Eventually we gave in and paid the remaining €20 out of our good grace. You cannot tell customers that you would prefer to not be paid at all rather than receive a bad TripAdvisor review and then demand they pay the full amount when the promised service is not provided..

There were also a number of times when the quality and safety of Sergei's driving came into question. He would often speed up and then slam on the brakes when a car in front wanted to make a turn. He also drove in the middle of the road (over the white line) and went quite fast around sharp corners/bends. He answered his phone while driving through the centre of Kotor. The worst part was that while driving in busy traffic, he leaned across towards the glove compartment and grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, then turned around and asked us to sign our names.. why this couldn't have waited until the end of the trip or when the car was stopped in a safe space bewilders me! He then spent the next few minutes trying to read our names on the piece of paper that lay on the passenger seat rather than concentrating on the road on front of him..

I would strongly advise anyone who visits Kotor or any of its surrounding towns to avoid Explore Montenegro Travel Agency... Even though the other tour providers might be more expensive they will surely be better quality!!

We stayed at the Appartments from the company owners and were lucky to get some great advises to make our vacation the best it can get. Good recommendations for tours and restaurants, which never disappointed us. We highly recommend to visit this untruly beautiful country with the guys of Explore Montenegro.

Of the 32 places we visited Montenegro would be my second favourite. We hired a car and our driver/guide Nikola Cirivic was absolutely amazing, his knowledge and bubbly oersonality made the journey a real fun time. He took us all over the island on 2 different occasions that we berthed in Montenegro. The Blue caves were the highlight.
Thanks so much Niko. You are are our favourite and would highly recommend you to anyone wishing to tour your great city
Cheers
