This was one of the prettiest monasteries we saw in Serbia. The nuns keep the place visually pleasing. The church is small but pretty.

Very nice place to visit, quiet and calm. I like those mosaics the most. Whole surrounding is also beautiful, my visit was during autumn period, with amazing landscape colored in yellow, brown, orange and green tonnes.

Monastery Grgeteg is one of some momasteries located in Fruska Gora National Park, near from Novi Sad, in Northern Serbia. It was built about 15th Century in this region, and it was abandoned about 200years before, however 1 century before monks returned to the momastery, in the 18th Century. It is a walled monastery with a large corridor in openair until you arrive to the main buildings. Interesting as others. Pitifully, when we came here (in November-2019) some parts of this monastery were on works and they are closed to visitors.

The Grgeteg Monastery (Serbian: Манастир Гргетег / Manastir Grgeteg) is a Serb Orthodox monastery on the Fruška Gora mountain in the northern Serbia, in the province of Vojvodina. According to tradition, the monastery was founded by Zmaj Ognjeni Vuk (Despot Vuk Grgurević) in 1471. The earliest historical records about the monastery date back to 1545/1546.

Grgeteg Monastery was declared Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1990, and it is protected by Republic of Serbia.

To me, the Grgeteg Monastery is one of the three most beautiful monasteries in Fruska Gora. The monastery is remote. You need a car to visit the monastery as well as many other monasteries in Fruska Gora. There is parking space at the entrance. The entrance is just pretty; there is a peaceful, very nice trail. The monastery has been recently restored. The church is magnificent! You cannot take pictures inside. The iconostasis is made of white marble; it is unique! The roofs, the windows, the floors, the walls are just charming!

The monastery is managed by nuns and they are lovely! They will teach you on the monastery's history.

I was the only visitor. There is no entrance fee.

We took the bus from Novi to Irig and asked the ticket guy to let us out by Novo Hiippovo monestary and he was very sweet and made sure we knew when to get out- short walk to Novo which is truely old and lovely inside-- then walked to TV tower that NATA attacked-- on to Staro Hippovo which is more lovely on the outside-- then to Grgteg which has been re-done but is lovely-- then back to Irig to bus stop and easily caught bus----lovely hike- not many people out-- took us about 4-5 hrs but one of my nicest days in Serbia

one of the three we visited in one day, after quite a walk (an easy one) - really nicely maintained, beautiful yard, and the interrior. Full of flowers, you can see the hand of the nuns taking care of the place.

This monastery was definately the best one I have visited. It started with the entrance. The beautiful gate and behind it the church towering above the trees. This all surrounded by a magnificent mountain/hill landscape! The church was not the best, but the hospitality was. I have stayed here a couple of hours while talking and enjoying coffee and lunch. Superplace to enjoy solitude! And walking from here to Velika Remeta is amazing! (follow the red trail)

In the tiny village of Frusca Gora, on the outskirts of Novi Sad, stands the medieval Grgeteg Orthodox Monastery, one of the most prominent in Serbia and hosting its own Bishop. The frescoes are most impressive as is the in-house wine-shop selling local wines and agricultural products from the monasterial estate.
