Fruska Gora Mountain is nice gate-away, very close to Novi Sad city, that you should visit if you have time, and want to take a hike or have a picnic away from the city and noice.
Only a few little places on the top and tourist info points where you can park your vehicle. So beware where you park your bike or car.
Entry price is about 1 EUR per person, eco tax that they introduced a couple of years ago.
Road is bad and narrow on some parts, with a lot of potholes, so adjust your speed.
We had great time, because the nature is amazing!
Be sure to buy your-own food and drink before, you can buy it in supermarket in Novi Sad or some other bigger city.

Lots of forested trails for hiking and biking if you're looking to get out of the city and into nature. Bring mozzie spray in the summer; the bugs were definitely out (at the beginning of August), and eager to bite any square millimeter of skin not sprayed with repellent.

Some longer loops (10 miles, for example, though I guess depending on where you start) feature monasteries. Otherwise, you can just enjoy the birdsongs and the trees.

Fruska Gora is a Natural Park located in Vojvodina Region near Novi Sad, in Northern Serbia. In this park, you can do a walk, a hikking, run, a picnic, etc. and also you can visit some orthodox monasteries, which are located in this region. Most of them was built in 15th Century and they are walled monasteries with some buildings, where the religious community live and the main church, generally the most beautiful building in the full complex. Also, when you visit a monastery, you can do a little excursion in the surroundings. Very nice.
We visited the following monasteries in the park: Rakovac, Jazak, Vrdnik-Ravanica, Novo Hopovo, Staro Hopovo, Grgetec and Krusedol, and the best ones for me were Staro and Novo Hopovo and also Jazac Monastery. Very interesting relationship between Nature, religious life and culture.

We love untouched nature, so sometimes we go to the mountains on trekking. It was inevitable to visit beautiful Fruška Gora. The mountain of Fruška Gora is known in the presence of a large number (about 700) of medicinal plants. In a straight Vojvodina it rises above the villages and fields and disturb the monotony of the Pannonian plains. As a lonely island mountain is an exceptional natural ambience of this region.
Here you will not find high peaks and steep slopes, but you can enjoy the greenery, the preserved nature and clean air of this national park by strolling through numerous forest paths. It is interesting that this mountain is also the treasury of culture. Its special value is represented by 16 Orthodox monasteries characterized by a specific architecture, rich monastery heritage, library and fresco painting. Who has free time and good will should definitely visit this place. It's worth it.

I visited the area in the end of March 2018. Too cold, windy, probably not the right time of the year, but I was expecting hotter, possibly advanced springtime weather. I couldn't have been more wrong. I brought the wrong kind of clothing, so I felt I was freezing all the time. Many buses were cold inside (I don't drive). The area has lots of hidden gems to offer, especially the monasteries but also a few old farming houses and other well-preserved buildings. The garbage all over the beautiful nature is a major minus for tourists travelling in the Balkans. In the rivers, plastic bags etc. are stuck to threes and make the otherwise beautiful spots look ugly. Stray dogs was following me everywhere, some of them up to 20 km (you will need about 4 days to see all the monasteries without a car). Some dogs are really aggresive, I would have little chance to defend myself if they should decide to bite me without reason.

Located just 30mins by road from the city of Novi Sad, Fruska gora is a quick getaway to the nature if you like to hike and feel some fresh air. About 3-4 public buses run from Novi sad to different entry points at about 20-30mins interval. There are some amazing view point and it's best to go with a guide/local who knows the routes or other wise just follow the red markings in the trees to orient yourself in the woods.

Love this place. Even after countless trips out there I still fall in love with it every time i visit. Great all year round but can be hard to reach in heavy snow. Pleasant of surprises along the way. Look out for small monasteries and churches dotted around the forests.

Fruska Gora is a mountain in Serbia famous for its natural beauty. It is a well preserved natural forest. During our drive through the forest the only wild animal we saw was a small deer !
There is a TV Tower partially shattered in the NATO bombing, preserved as a reminder of what happened !
There is camping facilities and well marked trekking routes.

Stunning scenery and monasteries. The pools at Termal Hotel are nice and not a lot of people if you go during the work week. Banja Vrdnik is the perfect place to visit during the summer months to get away from the searing heat of the cities.

Small and quiet town in Serbia near to national park. Amazing scenery in the winter. Have some good local food in hotel and restaurants. A very old train station there. Lots of history. About 1.5 hour from Belgrade by bus.
