The Name of Mary is the main Catholic Church of Novi Sad. It stands on the main Freedom (Svetozar Miletic) Sq right across the imposing City Hall. It was built in Neo Gothic style at the end of 19c with a huge central bell/clock tower. The interior is very nicely decorated, specially the stained glass windows by the altar.…

In the Svetozar Miletic square of Novi Sad just the opposite side of the square you will find this church. Designed by the architect Molnar Gyorgy and it was built in 1894. I does stant 72m tall - that's the height of the bell tower - that has a cross on top (supposed to be from gold, still is a debate if its fully cast in gold or only plated with gold) . The church is free to visit - it is a catholic church - and often referred to as "the Cathedral" - , nonetheless like in every church donations are welcome. When visiting remember: - dress appropriate - you are entering a place of worship. - behave - mind your activities while you are in the church - keep the silence - lower your voice when speaking in order to not disturb those praying Regardless if you are religious or not, for sure it will be interesting to see the church - the stained glass windows made with glass from Budapest , Zsolnay ceramic tiles used for roofing and decorations and the neo-gothic style of the church for sure will give something to see for those who are into architecture. Overall it is an interesting place to visit -I do recommend you include it in your Novi Sad tour.…

The Name of Mary is a catholic church located in the main square (Svetozar Miletic Square) of Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia, after Belgrade. Very nice and impressive building seeing from the square. (See also Svetozar Miletic Square)…

Built in the classical Gothic style, the church is imposing and is a must-see in Novi Sad. Like any other Catholic church, you will also notice beautifully crafted altars and some exceptional stained glass windows. I liked the interior of the church but I liked the exterior more. A tall and beautifully decorated tower and the colored tile roof - these are the reasons why we appreciated the exterior architecture.…
