The Cathedral of the Assumption is a medieval- looking Catholic Churcj in Lviv. Maybe it was because of the period I visited, but this church was not open at the time. I was only able to admire the church from the outside. It is located near the Rare Book Market on the even closer is the Dominican Cathedral like 5 minutes away. The Cathedral is worth a visit if you are in the area, but no need to go out of your way to see.

Stunning place that was holding a service (in english) when we visited. Nice to see the usher was keeping people in line at the back - in a quiet way - so not to disturb.

This Roman Catholic Cathedral is very beautiful building. Inside view is breath taking. When you enter, you see straight away that it was built with a lot of love and care. And people who built it, were very skillful.

Occupying Cathedral Square, this is Lviv's largest Roman Catholic Church, although the congregants are also called Polish Catholics. One becomes very confused since it is also know as The Latin Cathedral. (Identifying churches in Lviv can be difficult since some are known by many different names.)
The building is neo-Gothic with a fresh pink and pale blue interior. Elongated arches, vaulting, and towering pillars wreathed in leafy garlands create a soaring effect. The combination of glittering chandeliers, golden sunbursts, gilt, and white stucco embellishments on pink walls was literally an explosion of beauty.
At the time my spouse and I visited, a choir with string instruments was rehearsing at the altar, so we were unable to get a view of that area. However, the inspiring music was well worth any inconvenience.

Go for a quick day trip from Eastern Poland - the border crossings are a piece of cake! Just what crossing into the EU will be like after Brexit. A must experience! Enjoy!

Most of the churches in Lviv are Greek-catholic. This one in Latin, and the service is on Polish. It is well renovated, you may feel the spirit of old days where Lviv was in Poland
