Welcome to traditional Dalmatian village and the place where Croatia stepped into the modern electric power era with one of the world’s oldest hydroelectric power plant. If you get tired or if it gets too hot, jump under the big waterfall and swim in the fresh waters of Krka River. The river and waterfalls continually produce natural phenomena, such as travertine formations that are a slow process of calcium-carbonate sedimentation. In addition to that, rich and endemic species of plants and animals revive the nature with every new day and invite you to join the fun. Entrace ticket to National Park Krka is included in price

On a medieval cemetery and a small church (St. Cosmas and Damian) parish of Varoš was built (1604). The old church was extended, and in 1740 the construction of this new stone church was completed.

The Church of Gospe van Grada (a.k.a. Church of our Lady Outside the Walls, because it was outside the city walls) was built on the foundations of two older churches and an old baptistery from early Christian times. An earlier church and cemetery of St. Cosmas and Damian was replaced by the current church in 1740; a four-story bell tower was added later. The current church was renovated in 2008. Inside the church is a single nave with a decorated barrel vault ceiling. The apse is flanked by two small alters. The main alter is Baroque, with a silver-framed image of Our Lady (1452) above an ornate Tabernacle. The Chapel of the Holy Cross is on the north side of the church with a beautiful black and white alter by Jakov Pasini (1845). The cemetery in front of the church was abandoned in 1828. It has been turned into a delightful city park with trees, gravel walks, benches, and fountains (look for fish and turtles). I enjoyed resting in the park under the trees, eating a snack, and watching local kids splash in the fountain. I contemplated how this patch of land has been both a place of physical and spiritual renewal for over a millennia. The church is open 7 am -noon and 5-8 pm, except Sun only during services. There is no entry fee, although a donation is appreciated. The city park is open at all times with no entry fee.

This beautiful church sits near the centre of the park. Inside is stunning, beautiful carved ceiling decorated with gold and red. The alter is only small but stood out as you walked into the church. Lovely building in a lovely setting. And as you go out the door you see a beautiful fountain full of turtles. Lovely place to visit and you can relax in the park afterwards.

I didn't go inside the church but the area surrounding was a nice place to sit and take a break in the shade. Don't forget to look at the family of turtles in the center fountain. A relaxing area.
