The entry to the church is via small monastery courtyard. I learned that the church is a principal shrine of St Nikola Tavilić, a Franciscan missionary who became the first Croatian saint when he was martyred in Jerusalem in 1391. Inside are beautiful paintings and painted wooden ceiling from 17 century. The entry is free. In the monastery is museum which contains works of art and valued manuscripts but during our visit it was closed. Worth to visit.

Gothic Church, built in the second half of the 14th century.
The Monastery is situated on the south side of the church and is alse dated back to the 14th century.
The "complex" is located at the south-eastern part of the historic city near the perivoj roberta visanija park.

This church is one of those that is a lovely surprise when you aren't looking for one.
Not sure though it would be as cool on purpose.

The church is relatively small. There are a few well appointed side altars.
The best part for us was the paneled ceiling with it's paintings.

Be sure to go all the way to the altar. They took pains to give jesus all the bloody thorn pricks. A bit of realism.

at the South of the old city, in a nice park. Most tours start from there, it is close to the cruse boats dock. It is a good stating point in discovering this old and beautiful town.
full of attractions and this is one of them.

St. Francis’ Church, overlooking Gradski Park, was built in the second half of the 14th century, Gothic in style with a single nave. The main entrance has carved wood doors with the remains of 14th century frescoes in the lunette above. In the 15th century, the Holy Cross Chapel was added on the north side; it has an organ built in 1762 by Petar Nakić (a renowned organ-maker). The Franciscan monastery on the south side of the church dates back to the 14th century. The church interior was renovated in the Baroque style, with a painted coffered ceiling (1674). It contains a shrine to St Nikola Tavilić, a Franciscan missionary who became the first Croatian saint when he was martyred in Jerusalem in 1391. Side alters feature 17th-century paintings by several Venetian baroque painters, including Matej Pončun. A doorway from the square just outside the church’s main entrance leads to the monastery courtyard, and displays about its history. The collection includes ecclesiastic works of art and a library with hand-written codices, 140 incunabula (books printed before 1500) and the “Šibenik Prayer” one of the oldest Croatian literary tributes written in Latin script around 1375. The church is open from 6:30am to 8:00pm daily. There is no entry fee, although a donation is appreciated.

This lovely small church is free to enter and is worth a look to admire its beauty.
It is quite impressive and has some lovely artwork along with small side alters and a wood panelled ceiling..
This is a lovely church to sit in and relax whilst admiring the sculptures and artwork.
Behind the church is a lovely small garden with the statue of the Croatian king.

There are beautiful gardens here that are perfect to just sit and enjoy nature.

They also have a large statue that is very noticeable. It is so noticeable that I barely even noticed the church.

St Francis Church and Monastery or Crkva i samostan sv. Frane, is a small but interesting church with a 16th century wood panelled ceiling and impressive artwork. It's free to enter, but be sure to look closely at the effigy of the crucifixion of Christ above the altar.

Beautiful church and lovely square next to it. This church was destroyed during the balkan war, but rebuild completely. The square next to the church was the 'decor' for some Game of Thrones scenes.
