St. Michael's fortress is situated on a hill, 70 m above sea level. White trimmed stone was used for its construction, which lasted from the 15th up to the 17th century. It covers about 2600 m2. During archaeological excavations, architectural remains and plenty of culture-historical artefacts from the times of the Venetian rule were found, but also the rests of the material culture from the Iron Age, which proves that the Croats built the fortress on the site of an ancient Illyrian town.

This is worth the climb up from the coastline, although the signs are a little haphazard, and I'm sure we had a detour which added a few hundred more steps to the journey. The views are great and everything is very accessible. A well air-conditioned exhibit gave some respite from the heat. There is also a cool cafe area underneath... More

The fortress is situated in the middle of the old town and is awarding its visitors with beautiful view towards the city, St. Anthony channel (with another interesting fortress yet to be opened to public - St. Nicholas) and the Adriatic sea. The walls are all reconstructed and reachable through the light walk around, but the inner areas were still... More

This is a must for sunset. With a stunning view of Sibenik and the Adriatic Sea. Enjoy a drink at the bar on the second highest level of the fortress.

This place offers a great view of the area from "above". I particularly liked the way they used an old fortress to accommodate to the new times. It doubles as an open stage with modern amenities. Inside you can also find a small exhibit of the fortress' past. The slight let down is the media touch screen that is not... More

It was interesting and great for views of the city, paying to look at a stage. The only water available was in glass bottles. Nicely landscaped, confusion over how to exit.

Worth the climb to this historical fort dating back to the 13th century for the views alone over the city and Sibenik Bay. A lot of money and effort has gone into the restoration of this site which now also doubles as an entertainment venue with permanent stage and open air arena seating. There's also a small exhibition area and... More

An interesting walk up via a labyrinth of historical streets .On arrival at the fortress the ascent is gentle and the views over the town and the islands are wonderful. There is a modern stage and seating for theatre..... and under the seating area in the shade is a large cafe and bar. A great utalisation of space .the elevated... More

View is perfect and nearly all you can find on the top spot near the cemetery. Don't repeat my mistake and choose cloudy day or late evening during the hot summer season. Walls and walls, stone and no special description.
