For 3 euros a person it's a great way to see panoramic views of the city.
Top Tip..go late at night, we pretty much had it to ourselves. No crowds & much cooler.
The first part of the climb is very narrow, but this soon opens up into a wider metal staircase, so don't let that put you off.
Sensible shoes and a head for heights are a must!

I chickened out but my daughter climbed all the way to the top! Even though I didn't make it as far as the very top of the bell tower, I still had some amazing views of the city and the sea.

This is a wonderful and very affordable way to gain a birds eye view of the city (children, I believe, are free).

Great views in all directions. We were there at sunset with few people so we zipped to the top. If there were lots of people, there could be some congestion on the stairs, especially the first 30-40 stairs which are narrow, so traffic can only flow in one direction at a time. First couple floors completed in 15th century, the top was finally completed in the ltate 1800's by an English architect

The magnificent Cathedral of St. Anastasia also stands on the site of the Forum. It was founded by the Byzantines in the 9th century and rebuilt in the Romanesque style in the 19th century. XII and XIII. It has a rectangular floor plan, with a large semi-circular apse. Completed in 1324, the harmonious three-door facade is divided in half horizontally, with the upper part adorned with arches, columns and two splendid rose windows. The main attraction is the huge tower with 300 steps. After completing the entire climb, you can have a 360-degree view of the old city and its surroundings. Open daily from 8am to 12pm and from 5pm to 7pm. It costs US$5.00 per person to climb to the top of the tower.

Although the view once you get up is quite nice, it’s not worth the hype. The entrance is small, steap and claustrophobic. The way up is always packed with people that seem to have never walked up some stairs. Once you get on the observation deck, you barely have space to move since the roof covers most of the area and whatever space is left, belongs to the americans. :)) Overrated, 3 euro entrance.

We spent around 15kn each to go to the top of the bell tower, it was a wonderful experience. If you manage to look at our Instagram or Tiktok page you'll be able to see the videos of the walk.

It is a clear landmark for Zadar and when you reach the top you get a whole view of the old town which is a lovely sight!!

The walking up steps are really secure and nice, you get to see the bell when you are there and then see the view from the top! I would highly recommend doing this as its a clear landmark and is relatively cheap. It works out roughly ÂŁ1.90 to get in. Again its nothing if you look at it like that.

The bell tower offers great views of the old town as well as the rest of Zadar. Be careful, the bell rings on the half hour and if you are in the portion with the bells it is very loud. The steps were easy to climb and very modern after the first flight of narrow stone steps. It is only 15 Kuna per person (about $2 USD) so very inexpensive.

You really should do this if you’re in Zadar!! For the price (it’s so cheap!!) and the views over the city which are just stunning, it’s a must do and I’m so glad we did it! The climb is a bit steep/narrow in parts with people trying to get up and down at the same time, but it’s doable, and so worth it to get to the top!

The church tower of the Cathedral of Saint Anastasia (Croatian: Prvostolnica sv. Stosija Anastazija) is located at the Forum in the heart of Zadar's old town. For 3€ you can climb the 180 steps. From the top you have a wonderful panoramic view of the city.

The Bell Tower is an impressive enough building in itself, but the views from the top over Zadar and indeed the surrounding area are breath-taking.

The cost is a mere 15 Kuna.

The stairs are wide enough and with a hand rail, except the very last section which is a lot narrower ... I had fun & games when I met a family with two toddlers coming down!
