Forum Square is the main square of Pula and has been for more than 2000 years. In this square you can observe archaeological remains from the Roman era, among which the Temple of Augustus stands out, or other medieval buildings, such as the characteristic building that houses the Town Hall. Overall I found it to be a very nice and liveable square, with a good number of cafes and restaurants with outdoor tables which give it an extra touch of colour.

Pula has many fascinating Roman remains hidden in unexpected places. Here there was a real mix of old and new with modern living above a much older dwelling. The new building seemed almost to hover over the old.

This it up an alley way off one of the main streets. You think your going into someone's back yard - which you are sort of. The residents have balconys overlooking this piece of the past - fascinating !

The most important square in the center of Pula. Its history dates back to the 1st century BC. You can see the ancient temple of Emperor Augustus and the goddess Roma. Next is very nice town hall and a lot of restaurants in surroundings. Nice to sit and admire the ancient beauty.

I had to write about this one...
This are ancient ruins next to a commercial street.
What did they do? The constructed an apartment next to it and literally integrated the ancient site in the building. The storage space is at the back and there is a small bridge over the ruins...
In Belgium ( and most parts of europe ) this is impossible.
So if you are around go watch this with your own eyes.

In Roman time people use to gather here. Forum is not the place which you can find only in Rome. This one is also astonishing.

This is the big Square where the above Temple and Town Hall are located.
Restaurants, coffee shops, souvenir shops, other types of shops, etc, are also here for one' enjoyment.

Most visitors end up in the central square for refreshments as it is full of cafeterias and restaurants. In summertime a stage is erected in front of the town hall for music performances. Peeking around the corner to the port you can see huge ships under reconstruction. The winding streets in both directions are full of souvenir shops, Obuca and other local brands sell also leather shoes, often nicely reduced.

Very interesting place just at the end of the visit of the city of Pula. You see the several people who fighted the enemy.
