the Town Hall is next to the Augustus Temple, both in the Forum, and still the heart of the old town for daily life, after 2000 years!

Its a lovely place to visit during the day or the evening. You always enter this forum during the day and the evening as its the entrance to pretty much everything in Pula, if you want to go Harbour you can enter the Forum. If you want to visit shops and places of food and drinks you can enter the Forum.
One really nice thing is that they do shows during the evenings, so one of the nights we managed to get a table for food in the centre and they were playing live music, so a massive crowd joined to watch it was a really nice touch to add as they lit up Augustus Temple.

Overall its a nice place to visit, and you will end up visiting this place. Don't expect massive miracles but is lovely to keep walking through each day.

A quite grand building situated on the main old town square as is appropriate for a Town Hall.
A Civil Service wedding was just dispersing amidst the general passing parade of travelers & locals.
Pula's City Palace was built on the site of the Temple of Diana but a new constuction was completed around 1295.
The 15 century saw some colonnades added in typical Renaissance fashion.

Venetian building sitting next to the Temple of Augustus in the major square of Old Town Pula. Contrast of architecture stands out to the eye. We could not visit inside on this day. Warning do not eat in the restaurants in this square...very expensive and not very good.

The city had a nice old town with its different buildings from different period of time. Since it was more modern than Arena or the other Roman time facilities, it did not draw so much attention.

Pula's Communal Palace is situated at the North - East end of Forum Square (Trg Forum), next to Temple of Augustus. Actually, Town Hall was built on the very site of Temple of Diana, which was used as a rudimentary town hall since 9th century. Its northern wall was incorporated into new communal building, and still can be visible. Construction of new City Palace that began in second half of 13th century and was probably finished in year 1295. Since its completion town hall undergone few changes. The main ones took a place at the end of the 15th century when building has been rebuilt in Renaissance style (when characteristic arcades were added), and then in 17th century, that's when Baroque windows were added. At some point of all these renovations town hall acquired an attic and clock ( in 19th century?); as they can still be visible on some old post cards and photographs; but these two elements weren't preserved, and what we can see now is simple, yet, harmonious facade. Town Hall is very easy to find. It's right beyond Newlywed Park (Park mladenaca), between Flaciusova Street and Forum Square. Next to the same square can be found Tourist Office, cafe, restaurant and accommodations. Surprisingly enough, it wasn't very busy place.

This building sits in contrast to the Roman temple adjacent to it. The Venetians built very little in Pula and so a good example of one of their buildings is worth seeing. Apparently, the stones from the amphitheatre were taken away by the Venetians to be used in other towns. So we must be grateful for their investment in this lovely edifice.

After going through the narrow streets of souvenirs and restaurants it is a delight to step into this delightful square with two balanced architectural gems from different periods of time - good place for photographs

My partner and I stayed a day in pula. It’s a beautiful stop on our road trip. Bags of history behind every building. Beautiful food and drink.

Lovely to look at while dining on the other side of the piazza but frankly not a lot going on here. Great architecture and fine palisades but thats it.
