More impressive than Orlando’s column in the close by Luza square. There’s a few restaurants here but we visit every day to use the supermarket to stock up on cheap drinks (they are still expensive but cheaper than constantly using a bar of cafe).

If you are walking around the Old Town you are likely to come across the central square, which often has a market in it. However, I wouldn’t make a special trip to see it.

The market is filled with people and all sorts of things to buy. In the middle of it stands the statue of this 17th century poet of Dubrovnik.

I have never seen so many people all thronging along the same pathway.. And still the coach loads were arriving. Despite this if you walk through the northern smaller streets you get a truer flavour of real Dubrovnik and with a lot less people!

We visited/walked through this square several times on our visit to Dubrovnik. In the centre is a large impressive statue of Ivan Gundlic. On most mornings we were there we stopped to look at the items for sale in the small local produce market. There...More

The Square was built after the 1667 earth quake when houses on the location were reduced to rubbles. A statute of the famous poet Ivan Gundulic was erected in the square to commemorate him (he is not only a poet but also a renown statesman)...More
