The private tour with Novak was both educational and entertaining. We learned so much about both the ancient and more recent history of the region. Novak is well-informed, articulate and very organized. Luckily he insisted on starting our day early which meant that, even after stopping for fresh oysters pulled straight from the sea (unique and fun experience), we were still one of the first vehicles to arrive at the Kravice Falls. We enjoyed this absolutely magical place with very few people around. In fact, because we swam instead of wading only knee deep, it felt like we had the waterfalls to ourselves. We were leaving as all the giant tour groups were arriving. We learned even more about the seven countries of former Yugoslavia on the way to the next stop - Mostar. We had a lot of time to explore and enjoy the old city. From bridge jumpers to a local beer pub, Mostar was an energetic and entertaining place. On the way home, we stopped by a winery, Stanica Ravno, which had good wine and was a great experience. A family bought the bombed out train station and is refurbishing it to be a 7 room hotel, winery, restaurant, etc… Absolutely beautiful! Marco, the owner, shaved a piece of prosciutto for us to try. He had only 2 red wines and 1 white, but all three were good. I don't think many people get to stop by this very special winery. We are in Croatia for 2 weeks and, so far, this day has been the highlight of our trip!
