We enjoyed an Old Town Food Tour with Hamo on a Sunday morning in late September. Not only did Hamo show us some wonderful local places in Dubrovnik, he provided great insight to the food and culture of Dubrovnik. Hamo also added great commentary of the 1990s war, which gave us an education of the life there during the difficult times. I cannot remember all the places we visited, but we indulged at/with: an outdoor restaurant for early snacks, fantastic black risotto, great coffee cafe, wonderful gelato, a peek at one of the cliff bars, a visit to the street where he lives, etc. When we return to Dubrovnik, we will contact Hamo again and engage in more tours, learning, and great fun. Hamo is very professional and very personal. Enjoy these foodie adventures!

We went on the food tour the evening we had arrived. Marina was our guide and was excellent. We set off at 6pm, Marina started with giving us a lot of the history of the area and town with a few places to visit, it was then time for the food and wine to flow. The places we visited were excellent, with an excellent variety of food and wines tasted. There were only 4 of us which made it a very personaiised evening with lots of conversations and inforamtion about the food and anything else we ended up talking about. After plenty of wine and food Marina left us at 10 pm, an excellent eveing well worth the experience.

We arranged for the food tour on Sunday 13 October with Marina as our tour guide. There were 4 persons in our party and we were joined by two lovely American ladies. The tour was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. Marina is a very friendly and hugely interesting tour guide and provides lots of information about Dubrovnik, takes you to parts of old town you may not otherwise visit and is very happy to cover lots of different topics. The tour lasts 4 hours which gives plenty time for walking, talking and eating. No need to eat before - save your appetite and you will not be disappointed. The food, the food, the food. It is simply wonderful and lots of it served with lovely wines. We started in a deli where a quite beautiful charcuterie board was served with some of the nicest bread I have ever tasted and the nicest of chilled wines. Next we visited a really 1st class Mediterranean restaurant. We were served four courses - each one mouth watering in their own way - all served with more lovely wine and more beautiful bread. Seafood paste with bread, Beautiful parcelled ricotta, outstanding squid ink sea food risotto and finally a wonderful pasta dish. All prepared in an open kitchen by expert chefs which we overlooked as we ate. We felt very sated as we left - thankfully for a bit of walking around the beautiful old town. Next stop was a wonderful cafe serving home made cakes - 6 different cakes all very tasty and we all received a bit of each and this was served along with a quite beautiful chilled sweet red pudding wine. We demolished all cakes as they were so good. Trust me they would have been left unfinished had they not been so yummy. Finally we headed to a traditional ice cream shop where we all had two scoops of some of the creamiest ice cream you will ever have the pleasure of eating in a variety of interesting flavours. Do this tour. On first glance it may seem quite expensive but you get great value for money just in the quality of food that you receive - even before taking into account the benefits of spending 4 hours walking around the Old Town and seeing parts of it in the company of an expert and very friendly local resident. This is a must do.

Company is easy to deal with and even refunded an unused ‘non-refundable’ ticket due to a friend’s sudden illness. Victor was our guide; he’s local Dubrovnik born and still resides inside the walls. He knew a lot. Group was somewhat large - 9, but that was because of a rain cancelled tour the day before; still this made it a little awkward since group sat at two tables in restaurants. While food was good and wine and beer plentiful, there wasn’t much info on why we were at a particular restaurant or what we were eating and why. Victor was a lot of fun and overall the experience was a fun event with a quality company.
