The two of us had a private tour of Bosnia one day followed by a private tour of Montenegro the next day. Both tours began at 8:00 in front of our hotel, and we returned each day between 6:30 and 7:00. Our tour guide/driver was friendly, informative, and helpful. He stopped at several viewpoints each day and explained what we were seeing along the way. In Bosnia, we visited Pocitelj, Mostar, and the very beautiful Kravici Waterfalls. In Montenegro, we visited Perast, Kotor, and Budva.
We actually made our reservations via email rather than on the website since we had several questions. Ivana responded quickly each time. We loved our two days of private tours and highly recommend this company if you are in Dubrovnik.

Wow we (2 adults and 3 children ages 9-14) had a great day with our guide Marijan visiting Montenegro from Dubrovnik. The ride is beautiful and it’s a real treat to see another country while visiting Croatia. Marijan gave us a really good perspective on the recent (since 1991) history of the area. Kotor is a beautiful destination and worth seeing. Even with 3 cruise ships there that day, the city felt less crowded than old town Dubrovnik does. I highly recommend this excursion.

After spending 2 busy weeks of traveling, it was our last day of our trip. We had scheduled a tour for just my husband and I with this company for a day trip to Montenegro. I woke up that morning to a rainy morning, was sleepy and tired In the back of my mind I was wishing we had not scheduled this tour. However... after just a few minutes with our guide Igor, I was so glad we did! We would have missed out on such a pleasant, and interesting day. Igor was a fantastic guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable , and full of personality and information. He had a tentative itinerary ready for us, which was wonderful since we weren't sure what would be the best things to do, but constantly made sure that what he had planned was of interest to us and was agreeable to us. He recommended our lunch restaurant, took us for coffee and gelato, and even recommended which shops would be the best for us to shop for gifts in according to what we were interested in finding. If we are ever in that area again, we will definitely book another tour with them and highly
recommend their company to anyone!

From Dubrovnik we drove by the Konavle region with our private guide and explored the beautiful Bay of Kotor. Montenegro's main draw is its beautiful coastline, dotted with delightful Venetian-era fortified towns, home to excellent seafood restaurants and set against the dramatic mountains of the interior. We had fun exploring the UNESCO World Heritage–listed city of Kotor. Highlights of this tour were,
FLOATING CHURCHES: Gospa od Skrjelo (Our Lady of the Rock), a lovely church perched on a tiny islet, opposite Perast, just outside Kotor.
MEDITERRANEAN VILLAGES: We drove Zigzag down the mountain road above Kotor to get a full view of the bay including Kotor, Perast, and the other villages clustered around the sapphire water of the Mediterranean’s only fjord.
BEAUTIFUL VIEWS: In Kotor, we climbed to St. John's Fortress, following the medieval walls for postcard views.

Pros:
Driver/guide,
Private tour,
Ferry ticket across Kotor bay,
Hotel pickup and drop-off,
Customize your itinerary to visit the attractions,
IGOR is excellent tour guide/excellent navigator/ attentive and polite.

Cons:
It was a very hot day. Expect some wait at the border crossing on way back to Dubrovnik from Montenegro.

Igor was my driver for the Montenegro day tour. We were about half an hour down the road when he asked if I had my passport. I did not so we had to drive back and retrieve it. I did not know I needed my passport and wish we started the tour with that question. It put on an extra hour and a half just because of no passport. So, don't be like me and make sure you remember the passport!

I received a lot of good history and stories of the region we were exploring. I also had some Bosnian questions answered. But, I was also given a hard time about my planned itinerary for Herzegovina. Apparently I need to be like "the rest of tourists" and spend 45 minutes in Mostar only. That is not how I travel.

The beginning of the trip was fine until we got into controversial topics like religion, diet, and how he felt about other nations- my country included. Sometimes I felt insulted by his opinions and thoughts that he shared.

I also did not like or appreciate the negative attitude towards Montenegro especially when I'm excited about visiting and paying a lot of money for a private tour there. It felt very depressing visiting Montenegro because there was nothing particularly positive said about the place by my guide. He did not seem very excited about his job.

I cannot say it was all bad. Igor did take good care of me- making sure I had food or drink wherever we stopped and stopping multiple times for pictures. Half of the time he was really nice and everything fine, but the other half I just did not want to be in the car with him anymore. I'm sure he is a nice person, it's just the vibe I was getting from him was not that great. It was off and on.

I do not like having to write not so good things about people, but I cannot pretend that all was merry. But, I feel that I need to give my honest side of my experience with this tour.

I can't say I recommend anyone to go to Montenegro or take this tour now. The negativity from my tour experience has now made me feel as if no one should bother visiting. I was really disappointed with my experience.

Yes, Montenegro has some beautiful mountains and a coastline to follow with your car close the the water, but everywhere we went was a ghost town. There was trash everywhere, and of course it was really hot. I would not say Montenegro is super touristy. And, I'd trade Montenegro for Croatia any day.

Dear Denae, Thank you for your very detailed review. As all of reviews are important to us, so is yours and we will pick up on some things in order to improve our business. We will warn our guests in the future to take their passports when traveling to another country and to check about the currency in that country. As you didn’t know about the currency in Montenegro Igor payed for some food and drinks as well as the boat for the island Lady of the rocks, which was not a problem to us, but not mentioned in your review. Also, we were more than happy to take your friends on the trip at no extra charge as you asked the night previous to the trip (they didn’t go at the end but we said it’s all good with us). We put every effort in your tour as we do in every other in order to give our guests personalized service. We are sorry you didn’t like Montenegro so much and tought it was dirty and gost city but we really don’t have any influence on that, though we are glad you enjoyed some parts of it. As for difference in opinions with Igor, we are sorry if you felt offended in any way or tought that he was rude to you, it’s not in his manner to do something like this and ever to be impolite to our guests. However, you obviously disagreed about some things but it’s everybody' s right to express their opinion. We are sorry if you didn’t like this tour and hope you will have a good time on your next trips and cities you plan to visit. Kind regards, Ivana and Boris Topalović Dubrovnik Top Tours

This is a family run tour company owned by Boris, his brother Igor, who helps him with tours and his wife Ivana who helps with customizing the tours according to your needs and wishes. The deep diversity of their knowledge was outstanding! They are amazing tour guides and by the end of the day you think of them as family!!

We can not say enough about them. We believe that the tours we had with them were the finest days in our five week Croatia vacation.

We went to Montenegro with Igor - he was a great guide, who listened to me when I said I like to take photographs. He made stops along the way, and went out of his way to show me good places from which to take a photograph. Best of all, he takes good photographs, so I actually have photos with me in them! :)

We were a party of five, 2 adults with our adult daughter, and adult son plus his girlfriend. We feel so lucky to have been hosted by Marijan. He was knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. Very flexible about what we wanted to see & do. We did experience delays when crossing the borders, but we expected this and we still had plenty of time to see all that was on our itinerary. Montenegro (Kotor Bay, Perast) was simply beautiful and Marijan was terrific about taking group pictures at all the picturesque backdrops. We took a ton of pictures. Really glad we made the trip to Mostar, Bosnia. We learned so much history and the drive was beautiful. The Kravice waterfalls were breathtaking. Our last day was spent in Dubrovnik. We ate lunch each day at a wonderful restaurant serving local fare, all very reasonably priced. Marijan is very thoughtful, personable and outgoing. Weather was iffy and threatened rain and Marijan carried a tote bag with 5 umbrellas just in case we needed them (and we did). We highly recommend Dubrovnik Top Tours! Ivana was flawless in her coordinating & communication via email to be sure we had planned the perfect days.
Pairing us with Marijan was the icing on the cake. We loved him!

Just got back from a day trip to Perast, Kotor and Budva. Tour guide Marijan was superb, provided great knowledge of the area and its history. Very much recommended doing the private tour as opposed to a normal excursion; the entire trip is tailored and you can beat some of the border queues by adjusting your plans accordingly. Perast was the highlight of the trip with its Venetian architecture surrounded by mountains and clear blue water!
