Just a short, inexpensive ferry trip from Dubrovnik, but miles away in character. Mljet complimented our visit to Dubrovnik perfectly. The National Park is beautiful and the visit to St Mary's Island and the salt water lakes is lovely. Also worth the effort is the 40 minute walk up to Montokuc - - the 360 views are fabulous.

There is no doubt Mljet is a beautiful island, still very wild, with an incredible nature. Unfortunately, our trip there was spoiled but the rudness and impoliteness of the croatians: greedy and unfriendly: They will make you pay with no shame 80 euros for a lunch (with a regular bottle of wine) and won't be flexible on any of their... Really nice, relaxing couple of days on the island. Hired bikes to cycle around the lakes. Walked to old military base (though would have been better on bike). Snorkeled, watched an octopus and found mongoose! Everybody friendly. Lovely lady on main street selling yummy fresh figs. Lots of choice for restaurants and bars but good supermarkets for self-catering too.

Lovely stop on our boat trip from Split to Dubrovnik. Has the clearest water out of everywhere we visited and lots of nice walking trails!

Firstly I want to say, how amazing, peaceful and beautiful and untouched the island is. My friend and I stayed in Sobra in an air bnb apartment for 2 nights. I recommend staying in the less touristy towns like Sobra! There were only 3 restaurants in Sobra but provided good for money seafood. I would say day trip may be... More

We were staying in Dubrovnik for a few days and decided to visit Mljet for a day. In the city they offered tours but they are expensive, so we decided to do it by ourselves. There is a comfortable boat that departs from Dubrovnik early and comes back around 17. Once in Mljet, it is possible to rent a bike,... More

We have been to 10 islands in Croatia so far and Mljet is one of the top islands we have been to. Quiet and laid back but good quality food and a great state park.

Nice little island, not much to do other than the national park. Just for a short stay. We had dinner in a family restaurant and lots of fun and a good meal.
