We went on a winery trip with friends from Los Angeles. Put this one on the must visits while in Croatia. The mangers Kreso and his wife made everything perfect. The local cheeses and procut were amazing. They showed us the new guest houses they are building and are almost done. I can wait to book then as they are dead set in the middle of wine county with the best water to swim in.

The location is as good as it gets, stunning view. The local manager was very nice and welcoming, explained the interesting story about the owner. The wines are actually the last reason you should visit, average and expensive. Much better to visit Matusko winery.

This winery is owned by the Grgić family, the same Grgić that was the winemaker for the '73 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that bested all French wines in a blind tasting in '76, putting the Napa Valley on the map in the wine world. With a varietal very similar to the Zinfandel grape (Plavac Mali), this winery is a must try for those that are wine aficionados. The calm town nearby is a fantastic place to grab a seafood lunch.

The drive from Dubrovnik through Ston and then out to the Grgic winery is lovely enough to go for the drive alone, but the winery has a stunning location and was designed to show you the view. We stopped for a tasting only and did enjoy the wines, and learning about them.

The wines are superb, the location and facility stunning. Unfortunately the customer ambiance is indifferent. Our ‘host’ gave no welcome and seemed indifferent to our presence despite our intention to buy a bottle of Plavac Mali. He seemed distracted by his own self-importance. For such a wonderful facility the absence of a welcoming atmosphere was very disappointing. We were surprised as well to see a 50kn charge for sampling. Charging those who take the time to seek out the location (its a destination) seems a backward marketing tactic.

We had such a nice visit as drop ins without reservations. Wines were amazing, we bought several and even brought some back to the States. The building is amazing as are the views. The whole side of the hill was destroyed by fire and is still recovering. Grgic Winery was hurt badly, but seems to have recovered fully! Please stop by this wonderful winery and all the others on the road to it from Orebic. Enjoy a meal in the cute town below, we recommend caffe-konoba Vitaceae.

This is a gorgeous winery right on the water situated about 1 hour 20 minutes outside Dubrovnik. The wine was great but you only get to taste 2 wines and it costs 50 kunas (about 7.5 USD) which is very expensive for this number. The tasting fee is waived it you buy a bottle but the red is about 210 kunas (32 USD). Overall good wine and view but expensive.

This wasn't our favorite place. Judging only on location and view, it would be the winner, and it's worth it for that. However, they only have two wines to try and the lady there was only so informative. She did provide good service however.

"Mike" Grgic is obviously a wine savant/genius, but the experience here was a bit light. There are two wines, a white and a red, and both are delicious. However, they're both pricier than the rest of the valley, and since there's only two choices, the tasting is quick and leaves a bit to be desired.

***The fire of 2016 hit the vineyard quite hard and they're still rebuilding. It may be quite different by the peak season of 2017. It may also be a great value for those willing to spend ~$25-35/bottle.***
