About
This local favorite isn’t as well-known as Banje Beach, but offers the same splendid views. Tucked in a hidden bay to the east of Dubrovnik Old Town, Sveti Jakov (St. Jacob) Beach is surrounded by majestic cliffs and turquoise waters. The beach is covered with fine pebbles, so water shoes are recommended. A cozy beach bar and restaurant will sate any hunger pangs, and there are also sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent. After a day of snorkeling, diving, or sunbathing, climb a steep staircase to reach the historic Church of St. Jacob, after which the beach is named. – Tripadvisor

    A beach paradise in Dubrovnik.
Sveti Jakob Beach is a paradise away from the popular and crowded Banje Beach. It’s a bit over a 2km walk past the Old Town from the Harbour side. Stay to the right and follow road to end with old church. Go behind the church down path & you will find steps to this beach. We loved it so much we went 3 days in a row. Early Oct temp was perfect. Shaded until 10:30 when sun comes over mountain behind. Plastic lounge chairs were €15 each or bring a beach pad for the rocks. Reef shoes greatly recommended only due to rocks. Great restaurant until mid Oct with a bar and another bar on other side of beach. Food was fabulous as we sat in our swimmers with linen tablecloth. Toilets and change area also available. All this enjoyed with pristine water looking out to the Old Town of Dubrovnik in the distance. No disabled access. About 79 steps to get down & up again, but we’ll worth it.

    Beautiful beach
Lovely picturesque beach only a short distance from busy Dubrovnik. Beach shoes for entering the water highly recommended as it is painful to walk on the larger pebbles. Restaurant promote their own boat taxi partner which delayed us leaving the beach in the blazing heat. We landed up learning that there are plenty of other boat transfers that operate frequently. Be careful of this! Staff were not as happy/friendly as you would hope for a nice day out, but they were not bad. We arrived at 9.30 am and I would recommend this so you can enjoy the beach when it is quiet as it gets very very busy as the morning goes on. People were struggling to find somewhere to relax. Food at the restaurant is good and views are beautiful. Well worth a half day/full day (if you can stand the aug afternoon heat) out. So happy we went there. We were 30eur for a taxi from Dubrovnik and 20Eur total for 2 on boat back to the old town.

    Good Place !
This beach is 7 minutes from the old town by Uber! I spent the afternoon with my friends on a sun lounger and we were very good, then we had lunch at the restaurant the food is not the best in the world but it's fine. The attention of the restaurant staff is good. The views from the top are spectacular!

Lovely beach, beware of sunbed and umbrellas
I thought this beach was beautiful (albeit not a sand beach, has large pebbles so bring shoes you can wear in the water). Crystal clear water, if you go early you get shade from the hillside behind. Paid 18euro each for a sunbed, didn’t mind paying that but the man hiring umbrellas was really rude which took away from the experience. You need to walk down a long fairly steep flight of stairs.

This was the busiest beach I have ever been to! People were crammed in so tightly some couldn’t even lie down which is not the most relaxing experience. The guys renting the overpriced umbrellas and sun loungers were pretty surly and unfriendly. The bar seemed to serve nice food, although expensive. Our Uber dropped us off a 5-10 min walk away and there’s also a steep walk down lots of steps to access the beach - and our driver also warned us cabs wouldn’t pick us up again if they thought we’d be wet from the sea. Which is what happened - it took a good 45 mins of repeatedly cancelled Ubers before we finally hailed a cab and paid double to get back to our hotel.

On the plus side, it’s an absolutely picture perfect setting with beautiful crystal clear water and an amazing view. The sea was too busy to swim but it was nice to stand in!

A beautiful beach close to the old town of Dubrovnik. We went with the car and had to pay 30kuna for an hour close to the beach. You can see the Parking on google maps and thats where we parkee our car. There were enough parking spot and you can pay with either coins, card or via a website. We just paid with our card and enjoyed the beach. You have to take stairs to go down which takes maybe 5min and is not very steep or difficult. The beach is very clear and you can rent a bed for 50kuna and a parasol for 50kuna. We would recommend to go early because we arrived on monday around 13:00 and couldnt get a bed anymore. We laid down with our towels. Recommend to wear swim shoes because its full of stones. Review of 1 - 7 September 2021.

A secluded beach just at the edge of Dubrovnik. Mostly pebbles with some sandy areas. You can drive there by car or walk from old town (about 20mins). Parking is available at 20 HRK/hour. Alternatively you can catch an Uber for about 30-50 HRK depending on where you are staying. Highly recommended!

This small shingle beach is beautiful. The waters are so clear and there are plenary of fish to see if you have a snorkel. There is a bar and restaurant with simple food (bottle of beer €5 to give you an idea of prices). Beds and umbrellas are available but there is space if you get there early. We spent the day on the rocks and it was lovely.

Practical note: on the way there from old town, the road forks. Make sure you take the right side just past excelsior. As you continue to walk down this road, you will eventually reach the church, you need to walk past the church to the left and around the back to reach the steps to take you to the beach. There is a sign post at those steps so you know you’re on the right track.

Expensive sunbeds (90 kunas/sunbed plus 90 kunas if you want an umbrella) and they don’t even give you a matress for the sunbed. You sit on plastic basically. The beach is rocky and it gets very crowded around noon. The easiest way to get here is with an uber from Dubrovnik (50 kunas).

On the positive, the service at the restaurant was good and the food ok (prices in line with the majority of the restaurants in Dubrovnik).

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this beach. I liked Banje more even if it’s smaller and more crowded.

This is a lovely beach area that is a 20 minute easy walk east from the old walled city. It’s pretty easy to find after you walk through a lovely shaded residential street, walk down along a small street toward the water. You’ll see a small parking lot with a church; go around the church and to the left, and in a little bit you’ll see a staircase on the right with a small sign “Svete Jakob”. Take that staircase down and voila you are there. The beach is sandy, not pebbly, with crystal clear light turquoise water, small light waves, and an incredible view looking west straight at the old walled city. There is a café, which was not open at the end of May. The only downside is that the afternoon sun is strong and there is no shade in the afternoon.

Really nice place... 20 km from cavtat.. 49 minutes to arrive due to traffic.. The beach can be reached by steps (non-binding route) and is served by a bar and restaurant but at slightly high prices .. Same thing for parking (located near the steps to access the beach) comfortable always free also because 6€ per hour... Day to spend in the sun get ready.. The water is really cold😅😁

Took us approx 20 minute walk from the draw bridge into the old town (which is a nice walk) an UBER was approx 38kn. We went around 10am and it was very quiet, got a little busier around midday but still far quieter than the main beach in Dubrovnik. Beach bar wasn’t open for cocktails can only assume that was because it wasn’t peak tourist season but other bar was open for standard drinks and food (clean toilets also available). Took our towels rather than paying for a sun bed, it was Sandy enough in parts to be comfortable but mostly pebbles. Shower on hand and little hut type screen for changing :) perfect.

Roland booked us an jet ski tour with good discount since we were students. Only 150euros +gasoline for 4 hours of free riding (which is a lot less than you would pay normally). Guys picked up from our hotel and took us to a bay. When we came back we also got a ride back to our hotel. Can definitely recommend even though the service can seem a bit shady since these guys don’t have website.

A beautiful beach where both locals and tourists bathe. A mix of sand and small and large pebbles. the beach is located at the foot of the church of St. James, where it has a spacious parking lot. On the beaches there is a nice cafe bar and restaurant. Two deck chairs with umbrella cost 150 kn. The sea is clear and clean. They say that this is one of the most beautiful beaches in Dubrovnik.
