    A calm escape in Dubrovnik
We visited this pebble beach on a Sunday whilst we were in Dubrovnik, and it was fully packed. We found a restaurant/bar nearby (Blanco Restaurant) which has a very nice wooden deck seating area and used that as our base for the day, in between swimming and having snacks/drinks. The restaurant also offered sun lounges but you have to pay extra for the use of them. The part of the beach in front of the restaurant was brilliant and quieter. We loved it, although this was not one of the best sea experience we had in Croatia!

    Fantastic holiday
We stayed near Sunset Beach, Lapad. Fabulous views, Sunsets, plenty of fantastic restaurants, clear shallow sea. It was a perfect balanced holiday as the bus was 15 mins into Dubrovnik old town so we had some city days and some beach days. From the town get ferry 20 mins to Lokrum island... paradise, salty lake to swim in, peacocks and rabbits. Beautiful!

Not quite as it is advertised.
Staying at the Kompas Hotel Lapad, very nice hotel, absolutely spotless clean, food and staff very good, only slight issue is the hot breakfast, tends to be on the cool side. Hotel overall is well worth a visit be it on the pricey side for drinks and food. Sunset beach area across from the hotel is closed and allowed to go to ruin, bars and restaurants all closed up, grass area all overgrown and full of weeds. We noticed broken glass and litter in that area, no sun beds on or around that area. All pictures we have seen in magazines/ brochures advertise it as a lovely vibrant area, it definitely is not. Lapad Bay and area is beautiful, nice bars and restaurants but at this moment in time Sunset beach area spoils it. Seriously in need of much renovations. What an eyesore for such a nice bay/ area.

I have an apartment nearby and come every year. The beach operator went bankrupt and the beach is deserted. The city hasn’t stepped up to at least make it safe and tidy for visitors or locals that use the beach area. There is broken glass and garbage blowing around. The beach lounge chairs are stacked up 100m+ away and locked up. The public showers for rinsing off are €1 to use but disconnected. There is nowhere to buy a cold drink or eat unless you walk 200m to the shop up the hill or go to hotel Kompass for a €12 beer. No washrooms! Very sad to see.

Vibrant atmosphere at this beach with everything you need. Sun beds are priced at 16 euros each but I think they were worth it if you are spending the day there. Plenty restaurants and places for a drink. Beautiful scenery.

Just finished a week long holiday, staying in Lapad area of Dubrovnik. Great food choices ( although pricey ) , expect to pay around €30 for standard menu choices , or otherwise eat on the go with plenty of street food options. ( I’m to old for that ).
Old city is superb , especially at night.
Sunset beach in Lapad was the biggest disappointment of all. It’s gone to ruin. No sunbeds, all the shops and cafes along the beach area are closed , bar one or two. No signs of it opening for the rest of the ‘24 summer season. Don’t bother with Copacabanna , it’s not worth the trip. €70 for two soft beds and a parasol, and the beach bar is a rip off.
Use Uber or Bolt to get around the city. Regular Taxis are expensive. We paid €20 from Pile gate to Lapad. Uber or Bolt is €5.
Overall, we had a great trip but I fear Lapad will be hit hard if they don’t sort out the beach facilities. Prices in general are way too high , to not have the basic facilities right.

The bay itself is lovely but I fear it may get over developed with new places popping up near the beach area. We went on a Sunday and it was busy busy busy. All very clean and water was crystal clear but I would suggest seeking out quieter places

Nice beach to visit, main difference with this one is it has a sandy sea floor so a lot nicer to walk around in and you wont have to tackle any stones once in the water. However, the beach is still pebbles.

We decided with a sunbed and umbrella which was 120 each. Good facilities with a cafe/restaurant and clean toilets.

Would recommend visiting.

Loved Lapad Beach....a nice little retreat from the tourist chaos of the old city. Beautiful area, great sunsets. I didn't go in the water, but the beach itself is stone - not sand.....just so you are aware

Disappointing is an understatement. Nothing welcoming about the area at all. The beach bar went into liquidation 18m ago and the place is looking very neglected. It's a pity the local hoteliers don't do something to improve the area as would definitely help them with return bookings. We flew home 4 days early as a result and won't be returning. Shame on you Dubrovnik 😕

Beware if your staying in any hotel in the Lapad beach area. The beach is a building site (no access, no beach) and there is noisy building work going on until August 2017. Avoid if you want to sleep passed 7am

We stayed in a hotel in the bay for a week in late April and the noise from the complete redevelopment of the beach area was almost constant from 7.30am until sunset including on the weekend (we thought they might take Sunday off but no...). They were excavating the ground and breaking up concrete/stone all day with that jackhammering noise reverberating around the bay.

We had intended to spend much of the holiday just relaxing in the sun, reading and enjoying the area but instead we felt compelled to leave the bay each day to get away from the noise. We think the work started a couple of months ago and completion looks like it's months away. I'm sure it'll be an asset to the area when it is complete but at present it is a construction site and the beach is inacccessible.
