About
Running year-round, the Dubrovnik Cable Car has been taking travelers up to the top of Mount Srd since 1969. In just four short minutes, you'll reach the peak and be treated to breathtaking views of Dubrovnik, the Adriatic Sea and more. At the top, check out the fortress and dine with a view at Panorama Restaurant, exceptionally stunning at sunset. For the best value, choose a tour that combines the cable car, Old Town walking tour and the Dubrovnik City Walls. Plan your visit during off-peak seasons for fewer crowds, or right when the cable car opens. – Tripadvisor

- Sue SSt Paul's Cray, United Kingdom244 contributionsExcellent experienceExcellent experience. Went both ways but you could go up and walk back. Brilliant views from the top and excellent restaurant at the top where you could eat or just have a cocktail. Good walks and could hire a buggy or go on a zip wire at the top. The cable car was well worth doingVisited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 17, 2023
- Julie CMandurah, Australia160 contributionsWhat a view!!!!!!1Wow, what an amazing view of Dubrovnik and the Adriatic . Not a long trip but the view is spectacular. Stay at the visiting platform and soak it all in. If you buy your ticket online you will save money . It can be windy and the cable car will close so be aware.Visited August 2023Traveled soloWritten September 21, 2023
- PaulinelrLlanrhystud, United Kingdom104 contributionsA must do!Worth the climb up the steps to reach the cable car station. The view from the top and on the journey is spectacular. It was a lovely clear day when we visited and you could see for miles. Took time to have a snack in the cafe/ restaurant, again with spectacular views. If you want to have a meal there, especially in peak season then I would advise you to book. Also take time to visit the war museum. I advise that you buy your tickets at the Cable car station as the are a few euros cheaper than the agents shops in Dubrovnik.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 24, 2023
- J C51 contributionsAwesome ViewsI was anxious about this but it actually felt very safe. It does offer exceptionally awesome views of the old town, adjacent coastline and Lokrum Island. The exhibition of the homeland War in the early nineties is well worth visiting in Fort Imperial (separate €5 per person entrance fee).Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 25, 2023
- dannyandbecBristol, United Kingdom13 contributionsSteep in more ways than oneWe used the cable car to get to the top for a lunch reservation. It is expensive especially considering it takes less than a minute to get to the top but then you are in Dubrovnik everything is expensive! Didn’t fancy walking the trail in the heat and a return taxi for 2 worked out about the same cost so we did it for the experience. A return trip for 1 person is €27Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 27, 2023
- Chell BCardiff, United Kingdom288 contributionsCable carGreat experience whilst in Dubrovnik. Fantastic views from the top. There is a restaurant at the top, toilets and seating. Smooth ride both ways. Staff are helpful and friendly. You can buy your tickets at the entrance. If you buy them at the other booth on the way up, they add €2 for service charge per ticket.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 30, 2023
- WidlydidlyUnited Kingdom300 contributionsSpectacular views of Dubrovic from a smooth cable carEasy to find a few minutes walk from the walls of Dubrovnik, although a lot of steps involved. Very modern and very clean. Only takes a few minutes to ride to the top for spectacular views of Dubrovnik, the islands and the Adriatic. Better to go up after lunch when crowds have calmed down. Make sure you check their website as windy days can mean cancellations. When you get to the top there are toilets, a bar and a restaurantVisited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 12, 2023
- BacardiMan66Marple, United Kingdom449 contributionsYou know the price before you ride...Yes, its expensive, the prices are published, but its worth every penny in my opinion. Spectacular views of the bay and the old town. My wife is not a fan of cable cars, but this stayed close to the ground, which made things slightly better. Coming down was easier for her, maybe it was the cocktails in the panoramic restaurant :-) Recommended and easier than walking up.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 13, 2023
- buckets1969Flitwick, United Kingdom656 contributionsNice views but at a costThe Cable Car is 23 euros each which I think is on the high side but worth it for the views. We went for a wander at the top but there isn't much to do up there really. Take drinks from the shop opposite the entrance at the bottom to save money.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 13, 2023
- double07Doncaster, United Kingdom245 contributionsGood views at high prices1st tip buy your tickets at the cable car base as the official ticket shops charge a €2 fee and at €27 each it’s not cheap! Try to get there early as it gets quite busy. We spent about an hour taking in the views and wandering around. If you intend to eat at the restaurant take plenty of money.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 25, 2023

It's a nice, short ride. The real gem is the view and restaurant at the top. Good food, wonderful people (I found this all over Croatia), and excellent views.
If the cost of the cable concerns you, there are options. A cab will take a car load up for the price of about one and a half tickets. If you are good with a easy hike, take the trail. It's a continous feast for the eye. We tramed up and walked down - perfect for us.
The connection over the highway and into the city can be a bit tricky. Just keep moving forward, you;ll get there.

A fantastic addition to Dubrovnik - this company takes social distancing and hygienic measures very seriously and we were relieved to sanitise, have a private cable car unique to our group and to be journeyed up to the top of Dubrovnik within a matter of minutes. Obviously, the sheer lack of crowds and people as a result of the pandemic justifies how easy this experience was, but nevertheless, staff were friendly and efficient. Make sure you provide Student ID if you intend to visit the museum on top of the cable car so that you can receive a discount and be aware that you may not be as receptive to the cost of the journey as others, but my group did not take much issue with this, given the cost of taking a taxi or physical burden of travelling to the top of Dubrovnik in lieu of the cable car. Great views from the cable car and no real issues. Do consider taking the cable car as a means of visiting the museum and taking panoramic photos.

We rode the Dubrovnik Cable Car up to the top of the 412-meter high mount Srd station, to take this sunset photo of a cruses ship passing by Lokrukm island.
The station is part of the old Napoleonic Imperial fortress, built to protect the city below; it was finished on August 15th 1810 (the same day as Napoleon’s Birthday).
Once upon a time the area was covered in trees, the local name for the woods was Dubrava, but due to so many wars and inserections they have all nearly disappeared.
To reach this magnificent viewing point it is just a mere 4-minute ride up the 778 meters long swiss made Cable Car. Built in 1969 it was the first and only cable car in the Adriatic, and even today the view of ancient walls and Adriatic Sea beyond is quit breath taking. Of course, tourism has taken over and there is a nice restaurant offering inside or outside dining and bar where you can partake of your choice of icy cold adult beverages.
TIP: For you Game of Throne fans the best time to visit is in late October or early November when the last of the cruise ships have left and city of Dubrovnik is once again pleasent to Visit.

An ideal way of seeing the city of Dubrovnik from high.
It is advisable to get there early in the morning, as this will reduce the queueing time.
170HRK - we bought the tickets from a shop near the bus station and then walked up to the cable car entrance.
Well worth the trip, we had lunch at the restaurant at the top of the hill.
Stunning scencery.

You really have to do this one on a sunny day. You will be rewarded with magnificent views of the old town and far beyond. There is also a museum of Homelands war with an extra price ticket so we didn’t do it as the cost of return trip is more than enough of an expense.

The best views of Dubrovnik Old Town are up on the hill overlooking. The cable car costs return 170 Khuna and is a short walk from either of the gate entrances to Old Town. Panorama restaurant on top of the hill has refreshing drinks and more great views by the windows and viewing platforms.

The cable car is an unbelievable waste of money. I am frankly shocked at the vast positive reviews considering its such a rip off.
It will cost you approximately €20 per person and the ride itself lasts the best part of 2 minutes and that is it.
The view as your are going up is good and gets better as you go up but the best view is once you have reached the top and actually get off. So the ride itself is not worth it but you will definitely want to go up to Mount Srd as the views are spectacular.
Now you're probably thinking how do I get up there? Well you can climb it it you fancy. However you can also get an Uber or taxi to the top also. Taxi drivers will try to rip you off so I would recommend getting an Uber which will cost you about €5/6 euros. Like I said the journey up is not worth it. Its the top you want to get to so if you value your money save €15 and get an uber.
I was kicking myself so much for getting the cable car. Wish I read someone of the sensible reviews. Avoid.
Save yourself the money and drive up there!!!

Dear ash474lx,
Thank you for your review. We are sorry that you didn't enjoy Dubrovnik Cable Car. We sincerely believe we do provide the best value for money and our prices are set accordingly, however, we are aware that not everybody will share our opinion. Experience of riding in a Dubrovnik Cable Car cabin and driving in a taxi or Uber car are two different experiences. Cable Car ride lasts 3,5 minutes in one direction and cabins travel 778 meter distance between the lower and upper stations, passing over one column.
Thank you for sharing your experience and best regards, Dubrovnik Cable Car-T.

I was really looking forward to this experience to get a great view of the city. It is a fun quick experience and you do get some amazing views, however, the negatives made this not the best experience. It was super crowded. The ticketing process was not being done efficiently and there was a super long line. The employees were not friendly. It was so crowded and hot. Once you get to the top, there is really nothing to do. It is very very basic except for an overpriced restaurant with unfriendly staff. For the price I expected more.

Dear thehippoguy,
Thank you for your review. We are sorry for experiencing crowded ride during your trip in August 2019, but it is to be pointed out that was not on place during whole day but just on specific mornings or late afternoon hours on certain days. Whenever possible we transported less people in cabins for better experience, but we also cared about people in line, and if cabins we were transporting less people than waiting line would last longer. All our staff have name tags and we would really appreciate if you could mention the name of the person that wasn't up to our standards so we can react accordingly. On a hot days we like to point out that Cable car upper station is on 405 meters above sea level and is up to 4 degrees Celsius cooler than City of Dubrovnik. Opportunity for several activities was provided on the upper station like visiting The War Museum, buggy adventure ride, hiking trail, drinks and meals in the indoor and outdoor restaurant, shopping at genuine Ohrid pearl shop and seeing how coin replica from medieval time is hand made in front of the visitors.
Thank you for sharing your experience and best regards, Dubrovnik Cable Car-T.

Breath taking views especially at sunset. Very smooth both going up and down for anyone who may be nervous of heights. At the top is a wonderful spot behind the main building and over to the right where there is a completely unrestricted view , its quiet rough under foot but bring a small picnic and enjoy the sunset. Also available for a small charge 30KN is a fantastic war museum which is well worth a visit again this is behind the main building.
Just worth noting children under 12 are charged a reduced fare (50KN),
I unfortunately was not aware of this and hadnt see the sign untill we were at the top and ended up paying full fare (200KN ea) for 4 of us, I did query it when i got back down but was advised as the ticket was scanned they could not refund me :-(
There are lots of taxis at the top if you want to take a cable car up and taxi down but the view over the city make it an wonderful over all experience.

We booked the cable car as we had a reservation in the Panorama restaurant. The views are great and the cable car is well organised but quite pricey... definitely worth it for the sunset and especially if you can get a sunset dinner reservation.

The Panorama Restaurant is fully booked. Is it allowed to bring some snacks and beers to the viewpoint instead of eating at the restaurant?
Written July 2, 2024
Yes you can!. When we went up in the cable car we arrived at the top and joined a very small queue for the restaurant. We had not booked but got in anyway. With regards your question I saw people sitting at what looks like a stepped outdoor theatre area which is just behind the restaurant building and they were eating food they had bought and having drinks etc. The Panorama Restaurant DO NOT own the entire area at the top of the hillside and there are many areas you can walk around to enjoy the stunning views of the old city of Dubrovnik & Gruz harbour from on high. Hope you have a great time.

Hello, do we have to book tickets in August at sunset time? And how long to wait?
Written June 20, 2022
Their website says that it closes at 10pm, and the last departure is 30 mins before closing. Therefore you would want to be travelling up well before the last departure down at 9.30pm. There is a rather long windy path from the top of the cable car station down to the town, but be wary how dark it would be .

If you purchase a Round Trip ticket, do you need to stay on the car and go straight down (without stopping at the top)?
I'm looking to ride the cable car up, have dinner, then come back down via cable car and I'm unsure which ticket I should try to purchase.

You can stay up at the scenic point as long as you want. The cable cars run all day. I can’t remember what time they shut down, though

How long do you have to wait in line when it’s close to sunset?
Written August 9, 2021
Cable car is going every few minutes, ride is 2min long i think, we got there 1h before sunset and there was no line to wait.
There is restaurant up there, you can reserve your seat few days before and nobody can take your sunset away :) dinning tables are best to watch sunset with a glass of wine :)

Hello!
How far is the cable car from the cruise ship pls?
Is it super cold in the middle of October?
How soon in advance does one need to make reservations at the restaurant?
We will be celebrating our 30th, so wanting to make it special!
Thx for y’all’s time & input!
Written October 4, 2020
Don’t think it’s that far from the cruise ships, I would book the restaurant well in advance as it gets busy. I would also recommend requesting a table at the front so you get the views. Timing your booking to catch the sunset during your meal is well with it. If you they’ll them it’s for a celebration you also get a glass of fizz on arrival

How long is my ticket valid for please? We booked them online but it is closed today and wondering if we can use them another day?
Written September 27, 2020
I bought a ticket online in August, and it was valid until the end of that month. It should say on the ticket, ours did. Hope this helps.
Written September 27, 2020
The average temperature in January is 11 degrees centigrade with a 20% chance of rain which is still quite warm. I think all of the attractions are open all year round. The cable car is closed only when it is too windy.
